Listening on the day after Corbyn was suspended from the labour party, I dunno, to me (and it may be reductive or over simplistic) it seems that whether it's a discussion on poverty or zero hour contracts if we all worked a bit harder we could be socially mobile. I know it's not that simple, a lot of people work hard for their relative wealth but I could never see living on universal credit or whatever as the soft option. Rant almost over, we need the government to value everybody in society.
@JohnnyFriendly3 жыл бұрын
Even if that were true the problem with that philosophy is that not everyone can be socially mobile. For every winner there will be a thousand losers. What happens to them? Millions of people work hard every day and get nowhere economically (eg. gig workers, charity staff, interns). Poverty is built into our economic system; the rich cannot be rich unless vast swathes of the population are poor
