This song bright back memories for me, I was locked up in a United States penitentiary in Atwater California and I would go to rec and there would always be a man by the name of Rod Smith who would play this song, I never caught the name of it, just remembered a few words, I looked it up and there it was, beautiful song, maybe he sang it as a reflection of what was his life as he won't ever get out of doing a life sentence, his hair was turning white and he has a long beard, I am going to try to figure out if he is still alive and stop him a few lines to tell him hello and that I still think about him and this song, where ever you are rod Smith, thinking about you

Wow, Billy. This is one great cover of my favorite song associated with Woody Guthrie. Sure, Goebel Reeves wrote it but Woody would make it his own. I also like Arlo's cover as well. Keep fighting the Good Fight, my friends.
