Doesn’t seem like just that long ago that I was playing Thursday nights at the Tunnel in Greenwich, opening for whoever was headlining that night. I learned my chops there in late 82/early83 and I’m still putting those lessons to good use 40 years later. Hope to see some of you on the Roaring Forty tour this autumn.

9Me and a friend I hadn't met were from Adelaide , South Australia when we (individually) first heard Billy Bragg. A dozen or so years later we became best mates in Canberra and also bonded on Billy's music and politics. I remember introducing my mate to Kirsty McColl and explaining who Levi Stubbs was while he explained 'l'internatioanalie'. Vale my best friend Dave - will always miss you mate.

Until, what looks likes this once beautiful man, reconciles that reality wasn’t what it was, or apologises because he’s been ‘bought’ his beautiful music will be a noose or historical legacy to that man he once was….. my now long gone hero.
