Yes, he and Richards wrote. Marianne Faithfull performed it first. She and Mick were a couple at the time. Swift seems too loud imo like she’s trying to upstage or outsing Mick. Some parts of this weren’t too bad especially when they were singing harmony, but I feel that she was not faithful (excuse the pun) to the original intent of this song. Again, in my opinion, it’s a sad bittersweet song, with a history, heartache, and great amount of pathos. I feel it should be sung that way. Not with attention drawn to Taylor Swift’s physicality traipsing all over the stage: “Look at Me!”

well... that was awkward.. however, I've noticed when the Stones have guest singers, it's not necessarily played in an optimal key for that guests voice. In the 90's there was a painful version of "live with me" featuring Sheryl Crow in a clearly uncomfortable key for her. This version of Tears go by is in "G", the Stones key. Marianne Faithful's version was in a different key (C) in the 1960's and Taylor Swift could have possibly nailed it in the correct key for her singing voice.. remember, "it's the singer, not the song"..but sometimes also the key

So that's the famous "Taylor Swift"? hahaha. Glad to see I'm not missing anything by being immersed in 60's and 70's classic rock.

I am 62 years old but I no problems with Taylor Swift singing with Mick Jagger. She is a smart savy lady, an excellent songwriter and guitarist, and she is very loyal to her fan base.

@@jamesdolan4042 Sorry, but judging by what went on here, something very serious must happen during her studio recording sessions I suspect. It was about the worst female singing I have ever heard.
@jamesdolan40425 жыл бұрын
@@paulhebblethwaite7168 Do you really think she was that bad? I mean since she is so much younger than Mick Jaggers one should expect her singing voice to have a higher pitch than his. I still think she fared very well and generously so.

I like it that Taylor Swift seems like a genuinely nice and sweet person. She is hardworking, having stated that she was knocking on record labels as early as 11 years old. She's smart as she knows her beauty is marketable and will get her to multi millionaire status quick. Her voice though is too immature and needs a lot lot work but I guess young girls adore her and don't mind.
@dimethaltryptamine110 жыл бұрын
No doubt. Everyone's got there own opinion & that's ok. Perhaps Mick should have done it without the stones using The Bay City Rollers as a backup band if young girls would like Taylor doing the duo that may make young girls even happier, too bad for the serious muso's & serious long term stones fans from the mid 60's & &70's that pay a fortune to get in but personally they were much more with it in 1972 @Randwick Racecourse firing psychedelic balloons & ping pong balls into the crowd. Just my opinion to which I am entitled-PLEASE!!!!
