I watched him putting alone on a huge green hitting lags from all kinds of angles and distances for about 10 minutes. He was well into his 60s by then. It was the most impressive putting display I've ever seen. And he did it all so rapidly. He just had incredible hand eye

Yeah, it was a real marvel. I wish I'd screwed up my courage and talked to him. But he was working. But I remember saying to myself, 'Well, that's why he won 51 times."

@@Toddapc1 It was a Wednesday and practice day at a senior tour event at Wilshire CC in LA. Must have been the late 80s, early 90s.

More wisdom in that (somewhat rambling) soliloquy than you would find in most one hour DVDs by famous instructors...Casper was unbelievably good... 51 wins and for about 10 years , more than Arnie, Jack and Gary... It wasn''t lost on him. He titled his book ''The Big Three... and ME...''

Searchbucket makes a great point. My greens don't resemble what I see on TV. I am going to try that wrist movement. Robert Burnett.

It would do most weekend players good to use his type of stroke; tour players are putting on greens running 13,14 on the stempmeter; the courses most people play on don't have fast greens. Look back at footage years ago of great putters like nicklaus, seve, player, watson, palmer, and you'll see they all had a stroke similar to casper. Great man, may he RIP

He had such a great wrist motion with his stroke,; when he got hot in tournaments, everything went in.........just ask Arnold Palmer in some of the times they faced off.

Putting in the dark - actually playing everything in the dark - seems to have really helped me develop my feel.

I think the average golfer would do well to try the techniques of the old pro's ... One-piece arm-swing strokes are fine for modern pro's who play on manicured top-quality fast tournament green's, but for the rest of us a good accelerating rap might bring better results ... especially on the short ones. I think the greens most us us play on better resemble those produced back then. Aoki was a great putter too.
