I don't know what people are talking about with criticizing his voice. It sounds super consistent with how he has always sounded. Love the guitar tone and overall performance.

I think he sounds similar to jack white. Minus the range obviously but the deeper ends for sure.

Ehhh his voice has very definitely changed. He used to do this soft sort of dreamlike vocal, but he doesn't do that anymore. Now it's more like he's trying to actually really sing and it's just not my thing. It's not bad, I just miss his old style that made me fall in love with SP in 94.
@MysteriousSteve1234 Жыл бұрын
@@omglauraelizabethI definitely know exactly what you're talking about. It's sucky but that's just what happens when you get older. I'm glad that he was able to retain his style for the most part. Rush, another band that I'm into super heavily seriously had to change their live performances because of Geddy Lee's degrading vocal register. That made me really sad because I feel like it totally changed the tone of the music. At least with this it's still sounds like smashing pumpkins, even if it doesn't have that dreamy sound to it.

I grew up in this era of music and would DEFINITELY pay to see him solo/acoustic before I saw any band live without their original singer..😊❤

I think his voice aged like a fine wine for those who like the particular flavor! He always sounded different and by traditional standards, he may not be a "good singer" but i always liked his voice, it just works to me lol.

Billy did not start out with the Pumpkins as a very good singer at all. I mean, his voice was cool; I always loved it in a weird way, but technically he was NOT a “good” singer. Pretty sure he would agree with that. He has obviously put in some serious work in that area during his career. He’s definitely flexing it here. I don’t think any vocalist would deny that this sounds like someone who’s done some real training and had a legit vocal practice routine for a while, outside of just singing with his band.

Love it how the guy who constantly whines about being asked to perform and reproduce only the 'hits' from the two albums some people still care for...just constantly plays those songs all these years later in radio/tv/podcast interviews anyway (and even names a world tour after the lyrics in one of those songs). It's almost like he's completely incapable of writing new material that would interest anyone... This isn't even a good song. I do not see how this was any different to what 4 Non Blondes were doing in 1993.
