FILM DESCRIPTION:
The life of 11-year-old Billy Elliot, a coal miner's son in Northern England, is forever changed one day when he stumbles upon a ballet class during his weekly boxing lesson. Before long, he finds himself in dance, demonstrating the kind of raw talent seldom seen by the class' exacting instructor, Mrs. Wilkinson. With a tart tongue and a never-ending stream of cigarettes in her hand, Mrs. Wilkinson's zest for teaching is revived when she sees Billy's potential.

Every clip in this movie is incredible. Over the years the father has become my favorite character along with Julie Walter's portayal. The first time we see this film we think its about Billy but its really about his dad and how he changes because of love. Love for his son.

I think they were shocked at rhe sight of raw talent bursting out. They were used to smiith, well trained little monkeys but Billy was raw but full of fire.

Seriously he looks really clumsy and there is no routine. I love the movie and the idea behind it but they should have cast a dancer or used a double.

It's very clear that he hasn't had much training, because of his background. That he's coming in much less prepared than the richer kids who were prepared for the interview process. But he has the physicality and the passion to be really good at it. And despite the many flaws in the audition dance there's enough moments that are genuinely balanced and powerful to give them something to latch on. People forget too, his mining background means they knew he had real core body strength and the mental toughness to cope with the life.
