I think this version is not as good as the original. The simplicity of the original is its great charm and makes the dream sequence so moving. The whole point of the original is that it captures the feel of Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake . Maybe Hungary is uncomfortable with that.

Chad Payne Unfortunately the director did not trust in the talent of the boys he recruited... It's a shame, all boys were great dancers, they could have done an excellent dream ballet by only themselves.

I quite like this version. Billy Elliot was not about Matthew Bourne's version of Swan Lake, it was about an aspiring ballet dancer; and I think this version captures the idea of the boy dreaming about being a big star when he is older, very well.

Chad Payne I think this is just your personal interpretation 🤨 Can‘t see what the dream sequence has to do with Matthew Bournes Swan Lake, other than Tchaikovskys music (and the hint to the end of the movie Billy Elliot). I think the Dream Ballet scene is reflecting Billy‘s dream of becoming a classical ballet dancer. There’s nothing more classical than Swan Lake for any ballet lover
