The bronze statue of Billy Fury that was sculptured by Tom Murphy was unveiled to the world in the grounds of the Museum of Liverpool Life on Easter Saturday, 19th April 2003 before it was moved on Friday 2nd March 2007 to the waterfront of Liverpool's Albert docks facing the Mersey.
But did you know a few days earlier on Billy's Birthday 17th April there was a special unveiling for the press ? Here is some footage from that day.
The sound isn't too clear in most places so I added a few of Billy's songs over the footage. It's almost 10 minutes long and is repeated again this time with the audio if you want to make some of it out.
As of September 2024.... According to sources at the Liverpool Museum The Statue is once again about to be moved after a massive clean and repair.
