I only saw HHH wrestle live once: the last time Wrestlemania was in Dallas, against Roman Reigns (who got booed like crazy that night!). Obviously, not the best HHH match by any stretch, but now I’m just glad I got to see him wrestle in person. Billy Gunn seems to be one of the coolest guys in the business today. I love that he’s brought his sons in and is teaching them the ropes. I also love the fact that he seems to genuinely enjoy the whole “Ass Boys” thing (thanks you, Danhausen!). Also: Billy Gunn doesn’t look 54. I think he’s in the best shape by far out of all of those DX guys (with pre cardiac issues HHH).

I personally don't think so I'd be quicker to point the finger at the people in charge but for whatever reason he just never really made it to the point of being the guy you immediately think of when you think of all the greats And there's a lot of guys like that especially with guys who had long successful tag runs Ron Simmons is like that and I consider him one of my all time favorites

@@biggpo313 For his fans, it is. And by that, not so much that he's retired. Every athlete does at some point. It's the fact that the decison and timing was made for him. I think this is probably my first time seeing Billy Gunn in a interview, and I've been watching him from the first gecko on WWF way back when. And I like his honest answer. And how he like how we are when we are young blaming people blaming for whatever and sit back and realize later. Kind of respect him now not like I did it before LOL but more now that he is more wise and we all probably done it all the time, blame others till you realize why you got fired or why this why that and you like oh because it's me or because I said something or or this is how this works or like the business or any job.. that's like when people at work mentioned they have enough money to pay us more. Till I have to tell them well they have light bills they have assurances they have gas bill pay everybody pay theirselves exedra exedra you have to know how a business any kind of business kind of runs and what kind of bills they have to pay to.. then when everybody mention about everybody from WWE getting released lately I said about the same thing with Billy Gunn mentioned, don't want pay somebody just sitting around and do nothing. I don't think my boss at a regular job see that I have nothing to do why pay me to do nothing or if I can't offer anything

@@darylhall2198 I'm not so sure if the problem with Billy Gunn was bad timing. I think he's one of those guys who's a great worker, but there's some type of flaw that makes him better suited for tag team wrestling instead of singles work. Billy Gunn sounds great when he speaks in a regular interview, but when he cuts a promo he does not come off as a singles star. There was a good reason why Road Dogg cut the promos and Billy Gunn did much of the in-ring work when they tag teamed (Road Dogg was great on promos but had limits on what he could do in the ring; Billy Gunn was a great in-ring worker, but did not sound great on promos). I know Chris Benoit was also a great worker but even more limited in his promo skills and smaller than Billy Gunn, but the Rock, Stone Cold, and HHH all wanted to work with Benoit and make him look great. I think it was a difference in the way Benoit and Gunn worked. With Benoit, the nickname "Rabid Wolverine" was the perfect description of the way he presented himself in his matches: a small but dangerously violent psychopathic predator (which was unfortunately the perfect description of what he was like in real life). Anyone in a match against Benoit would have been presented as fighting for their lives, which explains why main event stars like the Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and HHH wanted to work with Benoit. Billy Gunn as a singles wrestler does not really come off as a dangerous threat, especially when the WWE tried to push him as Mr. Ass. Billy Gunn also did not have an exciting flare to his gimmicks or matches like Eddie Guerrero ("Latino Heat" described his gimmick and matches perfectly), who definitely had stars like Big Show and Brock Lesnar demanding to work with. And don't forget that WWE was never afraid of giving Guerrero the microphone.
@darylhall2198
@darylhall2198 2 жыл бұрын
@@tsaicho Billy was fine on promos imo....But totally disagree he didnt have flare to his matches. He was 6'6 working like a cruiserweight. I think the biggest problem was that he had bad asthma (which could have been worked around) but also he got injured at the worst times, one injury causing him to have to drop the IC title early, so thats mainly why I say bad timing. But to your point the name didnt help him. It is kinda crazy that gunn won the belt from eddie and lost it to chris.

@money man ahhh really? Where does it state that? The old WWF annual I have from being a kid actually says 63 as his year of birth alongside a lot of the wrestling sources online etc. Strange isn't it. Wikipedia too after a quick Google.

@money man Yeah it's open for editing is Wikipedia. Strange with all the other sources saying the same though. One of those bizarre things I suppose.
