Maybe someone said it already? But guitarist Steve Steven's has a switch or knob on the guitar I believe ( for live performances ) that makes that " laser sound "...its from a toy gun he had as a child. From west coast Canada 🇨🇦, peace.

Teenagers in 80’s and early 90’s had a reputation of being the wildest and craziest ever. The biggest reasons why we were is we played out our music. As teenagers in the 80’s we had some of the wildest and craziest music.
@JohnHF1957
@JohnHF1957 5 ай бұрын
Not so. It was the 50s, 60s and 70s. Particularly young girls going wild for the Beatles, young women throwing their underwear on stage at Elvis' and Tom Jones' concerts and violent public clashes between the Mods and Rockers in the UK. The wildest music was early rock in the 50s, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard , Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran etc and the guitar boom in the 60s and 70s with Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and David Gilmour.
@norwegianblue2017
@norwegianblue2017 5 ай бұрын
@@JohnHF1957 There's a difference between being wild and teenaged hysteria. Tons of respect for the older bands, who often had the best voices and song writing. But when it comes to the crowd just losing their shit, I think the mid 70s to mid 90s was peak crazy. The rise of punk and metal in the late 70s and early 80s had a lot to do with that.
@JohnHF1957
@JohnHF1957 5 ай бұрын
@@norwegianblue2017 Crap. Watch clips of Elvis from the 50s and the Beatles and Stones from the 60s and see crowds "loosing their shit" not just at concert performances but outside hotels, at airports and in Elvis' case, along the railway line as his train took him to his army service. Being your definition of "wild" began in the 60s with the wide spread drug use at concerts, with the outstanding examples being Woodstock and the Altamont Speedway concert, both in 1969. PS The rise of metal was the late 60s (1968/1969 Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, all with hit albums before the end of 1970 (which is the last year of the 1960s decade)), not the late 70s. Just as the original poster, you are decades behind and giving credit to the wrong people at the wrong time.
@norwegianblue2017
@norwegianblue2017 5 ай бұрын
@@JohnHF1957 You are just wrong about heavy metal. The earliest album that might be considered what we now consider heavy metal is Black Sabbath's debut album, which came out in 1970 by the way. But it was still a heavily blues sounding album, as was Led Zeppelin which is definitely not metal. Neither was Deep Purple or Iron Butterfly. That was just hard rock. You have to go further into the mid/late 70s to find any real metal. I would call Judas Priest the true godfather of metal, and really not until Sad Wings of Destiny or Sin After Sin, which came out in 76 and 77.
@JohnHF1957
@JohnHF1957 5 ай бұрын
@@norwegianblue2017 What "we now consider heavy metal" and what your opinion is, is not the point. The first uses of the term "heavy metal" in articles by music critics were in response to the Stone's "Got Live If You Want It" in 1967, Electric Flag's "A Long Time Comin'" in 1968, Jimi Hendrix in 1968 and Humble Pie's 1969 album "Safe As Yesterday Is". As for Black Sabbath, they called their music "downer rock". By the mid 70s the term had been used to describe a number of bands, especially Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple. and Black Sabbath (factually documented whether you agree or not). I am not wrong as the evidence is there. You are wrong because your point of view is personal and retrospective. The facts are what was done and said at the time. Black Sabbath's debut album, by the way was recorded on one day, October 16th 1969 and released in February 1970, the last two years of the 60s decade. So, simple, documented facts show and millions more opinions than yours recognise that "Heavy Metal" music was born in the late 1960s. Cue Hendrix solo and more lighter fluid on the burning guitar.

Billy Idol's previous record, WHITE WEDDING, simmered for months on the radio and in dance clubs. The exposure the video received from MTV helped to generate interest while he was recording the album for this song. But when REBEL YELL was released, it landed like a bomb, leaving a mushroom cloud with Billy Idol at the center of the storm shouting More, More, More!!! It was an immediate hit. The following singles helped cement his legacy as the Idol of Millions for the MTV generation. EYES WITHOUT A FACE, FLESH FOR FANTASY, DANCING WITHYSELF, MONY, MONY, and the previously mentioned WHITE WEDDING. Keep going and enjoy

I think the term you're looking for is "register", he switches to a lower register in the bridge, as he switches to a higher in the chorus. It contributes to the sense of dynamics in a song that is otherwise fairly even in energy throughout.
