This was so hokey, but ya know what? It was still more entertaining over anything that's being put out in today's wrestling. As hokey as it was it still had its purpose, and that was to advance a feud and get it over. Segments like this we remember!, and those of today you forget about them by the next broadcast. Billy Jack was so over everywhere he went. I hate the way it all turned out for Billy both professionally and personally, but life is dictated by the choices we make.

I think after Florida and maybe mid-south(Bill Watts), no other territory prepared more high class talent for the big leagues, than Portland. First wrestlemania main event was team Piper vs team Hogan, so it was basically Florida vs Portland. Rip Oliver is badly underrated, and deserved a better spot in the big leagues, at least at the same level as his long time rival Billy Jack Haynes. .

OK. I remember when Portland wrestling got red hot 1980-83 with up and comers and great working veterans who put guys like Hennig, Dynamite Kid, Chris Adams, Piper and Martel over. Then this production in 1990, when Vince had pretty much decimated the territories. Poor Don Owen 😢. An aged Billy Jack, AL Madril and RIP Oliver. He did have Brian Adams.

@RingOfFireProWrestling5 жыл бұрын
The first hour of the live show was taped for the Seattle market and was called Big Time Wrestling. It would air later in the week up north. Fans in Oregon and Southwest Washington saw the next 90 minutes of the live show on television later that night, which was called Portland Wrestling. The cool thing about Portland Wrestling was that you could be there live, then drive home as soon as it ended to see yourself on TV. The KPTV truck would immediately load up and drive the tape back to the studio so they could broadcast it an hour later.
@scottevans0415 жыл бұрын
@@RingOfFireProWrestling I remember watching it in Oregon all the time when I was a kid in the 70's my grandmother just loved it and she would go watch it whenever she could. She would be the little old lady with a cigarette in one hand and throwing a punch ch in the air. My favorite wrestlers was Lonnie Mayne akaMoondog Mayne but my favorite heel was Mr. X he had a mask and his move was the headbutt. That video brought back so many memories. Thank you

The Grappler and Brian Adams come to the ring for an arm wrestling and get bushwhacked by the likes of Rip Oliver Bill Francis and Billy Jack Haynes. That's three on two. How is that fair? All this tells me is that the likes of Oliver, Francis and Haynes knew they were no match for the intelligence, talent and ability of The Grappler and Brian Adams. They had to resort to this kind conniving chicanery. Shame on them.
