Most people remember Billy Ocean from his 80's hits, but in 1976 he recorded a great pop tune called "Love Really Hurts Without You". I think it was his first hit in the U.S.

Billy Ocean one of my fave 80's artists. He had some great disco tunes in the 70s and early 80s, amongst others Stay the Night. Fantastic track. Thanks for picking him up, guys. Caribbean Queen is another one. Great sax in there too.

I thought I knew all of his hits, but must have missed this tasty one. His tunes were well produced, and his soulful, expressive voice always makes me think of the Caribbean and Hawaiian-print shirts, lol, whether the song has a big island-style feel or not. (He's best known for his hit "Caribbean Queen".)

I'm a bit surprised that I never heard this song before today. He had a huge hit with " Caribbean Queen " back in 1984. This song, as you pointed out, sounds a bit over enginnered but that was what they did back in the 1980's. Great reaction. Take care....

9:45 Yup, Nick, I could hear Isley Jasper Isley (good call) but to me it was closer musically (80’s mid-tempo R&B) to Freddie Jackson’s “Have You Ever Loved Somebody”. 🤷🏻‍♂️ This song is just okay for me. I like the verses much better than the choruses, and even the bridge was just okay for me. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I'm actually surprised Ryan chose this song because this was definitely not one of Billy Ocean's big hits. 🤔 I would have expected "Caribbean Queen" or "Loverboy" (which happened to be my favorite song by him). I would definitely recommend both those songs as the next ones y'all do by him. Peace! ☮️
