My first and arguably favorite synth I've ever owned. It put me in great demand in high school as I was the only guy who had a synth. Scarcity shapes demand.

Wonderful analogue from one of the first Moog cheapies for the masses! It still beats most modern synths for usability and straightforward fun. Behringer will no doubt resurrect it at some point with their own modern take on it. If you want to hear a master musician on Moog solos check out Manfred Mann (Manfred Mann's Earth Band). Some of their 70's albums are incredible, mind blowing synthesiser use in Nightingales and Bombers, The Roaring Silence, Solar Fire and Watch. These are "must listen to" albums. Up there in my top 20 albums of all time!

Another great restore, Jareth.!!! Pretty versatile little synth for only having 1 VCO. Reminds me of my Yamaha CS-5.

Looks and sounds great. The ribbon sounded a bit sketchy though. Smooth bends below center, but sounded “scratchy” or intermittent on the top half.

Thanks. I'm actually out of practice with the ribbon. I lifted my thumb during the bend.

Love the sound of the micro and the prodigy. The only issue for me is that the lowest note is F instead of E. It's very rare to solo or to play bass lines in F but E is very common, especially using the Em pentatonic scale. Not sure how Moog missed this. Thanks for sharing!

They do sound great. Moog only had one synth I know of that started with E note and that was the polymoog.

LFO unfortunately can't be synchronized, it doesn't have any reset circuit.

Hi Jareth,hope you are well-can I ask you a question?. Do you know if anybody is currently manufacturing a pcb for the Prodigy ?. I've looked all over but no joy. The micro looks and sounds great !!, and thanks for the video !
@synthpro Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I do not know of anyone building the PCBs for the Prodigy. I may have a new old stock populated board if interested.

when I bought my first synth back in the 70's II was down to either one of these or a Maxi Korg. Sigh. Should have got the Micro.
