THIS was rock and roll. No fancy, expensive sets. Just 5 extremely talented musicians under some colored lights who could bring the house down. The playing is tight, the vocals are strong. At the time, it never occurred to me that some day it might end.

As Bob Seger once sang, "Ain't got money but I got a whole lot of love." We were so rich then. Somehow it all got replaced with the love of Money (and we are sadly re-learning that lesson).

@MetallicBill right. But real rock bands don't care about award shows. They care about concert tickets and album sales. Some of the best are critically unknown but their fans will praise them forever. 😁

I guess it’s the popular opinion that Billy’s “Rock me tonight” video ruined his career. It’s the one where he was prancing around in a pink tank top as I recall. I remember my GF at the time thought he was extremely sexy in this video! But I personally don’t think he was acting any different in the RMT video than he ever did any other time on stage. He was just a flamboyant entertainer, not a whole lot different than Mick Jagger really. Great songs, fabulous guitarist, and incredible singer, I have always been a huge fan. Just a shame one video shut it all down. I’m sure Billy had/has a lot more in the tank! 😎

Woot! I lived either in Maple Grove or Northfield, MN when you saw that show! I'm maybe 2-3 years younger. Billy just floored me in those days. He was such a great songwriter. Whenever the show was, I know I heard about it on KQRS, and I was envious of kids like you who got to go.

First concert I ever went to. Ninth grade. I bought a tee shirt and wore it to school all year. It became a joke. I don't remember a thing about that night, only that when we were standing in line to get in, someone said a guy died the week before going through the glass pane in the lobby.

Bad ass Billy either he was wearing his Adidas or he was barefoot either way as a child. I always looked up to him. Oborne in 70 grew up in 80 now I missed most of the bands that we listen to. They’re all passing away to you out there at generation X we lived in real dream.❤️💯👊🇺🇸

A ticket cost between 15 and 18 dollars back then. I would drive 100 miles about once a month to see all the greats from 1978-1986. What a time. Too bad Ticketmasters was allowed to monopolize the market and destroy a grass root industry.

They had the swagger of a band that had they're shit wired tight. No apologies for the power pop genre, just plain good. I hate to make this comparison, but the closest band I've seen from the modern era to have something similar. Is early.......no seriously. Watch some of they're first couple tours. It's really good stuff.

I have 2 questions. Hopefully someone has answers: Is this the same video that is for sale online for $75? If so is the DVD any better quality as far as picture and sound? I know there are limits with what you can do from 80s footage. #2 is there an audio recording of this that can be downloaded? Remastered? I love this live version - they really jam out and Billy uses his voice so creatively! If I just pull this up on KZbin to listen to I can't get anything else done because I HAVE TO WATCH! If anyone has answers - Thanks!!

Love the simple, plug in and play sound of this band. I don’t know if they used much for effects, but it sounds like a Les Paul plugged straight into 100 watt Marshall’s. No hiding your mistakes like that. The sound is fairly clean with a lot of headroom...another attribute of 100 watters. I don’t have any 100 watt,Marshall heads any more; but I certainly remember the raw air-moving power of a 100 stack when you slam a major chord. Since then, I’ve stepped the wattage down to a 50 watt Marshall JCM 800, a JTM-45 (30 watts), and an 18 watt TMB. I jump around between them or combine them depending on the sound I’m after. This band is just pure rock and roll Marshall tone.

I was there Def Leppard Blew everyone away as the opening band and it was very clear they were gonna explode which they did I would meet Joe Elliot years later 2004 backstage at Ian Hunter when my band opened for him. Jeff Golub great guitarist. Bobby Chouninard Awesome flashy drummer, Alan St Jon Doug Lubahn Bass groove master, tasty keyboardist. And Billy I fucked my music career with one video Squier haha. So great.
