The best fullback I've ever seen. Many experts who have seen more fullbacks than I have agreeing that he's also the best they've ever seen. No doubt in my mind he'll be back but I'm expecting him to retire at the end of next season. Slater is definitely the best player in NRL. Ever since his first game, he never gave up and was part of the big 3. He represents QLD and Australia and especially the melbourne storm. I hate that he is leaving at the end of the season, but his legend and commitment to his club will never be forgotten. Loyal for 17 years, he deserves a huge recognition in NRL History. I have met him before when they were training for QLD origin and he is the most nice NRL player i have met, along with cooper cronk and Cameron Smith. Billy the Kid, we will miss you :(((

Started watching the NRL in 2005 and Billy Slater is the best player I have ever seen. Better than Thurston. Slater turned up every week and put his body on the line. Hayne and Inglis may be bigger, faster and stronger but they are only good every second or third game, Slater was good every game. He had speed, footwork, passing skills and was a fearless defender. Brilliant under the high ball and always attacked the football when it was on the ground. As a kiwi, I started off hating Slater and thought he was overrated but as I got older I realised and appreciated how good he really was.
