As a chick AND a kiwi, i always copped so much sh*t for being a huge JT fan. it meant i was the only one wanting Aussie to win in the games against the kiwis, the only one watching state of origin, and the only one who wasnt a warriors fan. Because through and thgrough, i was a johnathan thurston fan and i still am. After losing my dad to a head injury which he sustained playing leaugue i grew up with a mum and grandmother who declared league as public enemy number 1. but i was always fascinated with what i knew my dad loved. ive somehow found a link to my dad through JT and as weird as it sounds, ive somehow found away of staying connected with him through following Jts amazing footy career. im grateful hes still very much involved with the game on the sidelines because ill truly miss him when he retires for good. not only was he an amzing player, but hes also an amazing man, father and husband...its been a total honour supporting him as a fan.

True inspirational man. Amazing half back and the best kicker i have ever seen. I remember when he came over to play against leeds in 2016 and gave his signed kicking tee's and scrum cap to young rugby fans, putting smiles on their faces and making there day. What a guy. A true sportsman. The man can't get any more respected. 👏👏👏

Although the departure of Roger Federer from the tennis arena was devastating, if Rafa leaves this year, I may be forced to quit the spectator’s box! Better than Johns better than Smith prob the best player in NRL history will be an Immortal, but he could play 6 or 7 by himself 13 v12 and still come off a winner, but between 2 number 7s Johns and Thurston, Thurston by a mile on and off the field. How he treated ball boys, fans, etc, he put bums on seats as a Rabbitohs fan Im so grateful that the try he scored that was a try was disallowed as, no matter how good we were that yr the Cowboys would have beaten us in the 2014 GF. But he got it all the following year. But everytime he got the ball near the try line id put my hands over my eyes waiting to see what he pulled out. But just had everything kicking. Running passing , step, and to think he was told he was too small to play NRL lol. But to give his ring to Price even though he would have got another one, just to have that thought in his mind at that time just shows what a sportsman he was. Never gave up and that showed with 5 secs to go in the GF of 2015. When evrryone else prob thought game over he was dancing around trying to create something and he did. The best GF since 89, im biased the biggest GF was 2014, but greatest GF ive watched in my life. He is a complete champion.

Wonderful footballer no doubt. But their were many halfs before Thurston and Johns. As years pass by we soon forget. I saw Billy Smith. Magnificent with Langlands. You talk to many of the older men. Theyll tell you the toughest to lace a boot. Ask Tom Raudonikis about Billy Smith. I bet you get a pretty good answer. The era back than was when men were at their toughest. Yeh and Tom was pretty tough to.

Andrew Johns is the greatest of the modern era. Both he and Thurston were great in attack but what puts Johns well ahead is his defence. He could tackle a front rower like a front rower and an opponent rarely got past him. Defence was Thurston’s weakness. When Joey tackles you, you asked for the x-rays.

Kel BRIAN imagine if Thurston had cam smith at the cowboys his whole career
@kelbrian33075 жыл бұрын
Brett Cameron Smith is the greatest player of all time. Why would I want to imagine that? What does that have to do with it. He had the best Queenslanders around him during origin (and a few good ones around him at the cowboys as well) plus Inglis! He won the cowboys a comp that’s his greatest achievement and puts him right up there. He just won’t make the greatest team ever. You have to follow it thru. He might be the half or 5/8 of this century but there’s a long way to go. That’s just the way it is.
