Love you guys and your show ! Aussie 60's Superstar Billy Thorpe disappeared from Australia for 20 years in 1976 and raised his family in the US in a low-key life. A whole new generation in Oz was born that never knew Billy, with many of his past older fans believing he had either died or faded into drugs obscurity. In 1996 a handsome sober middle-aged stranger arrived in Australia with a band from the US. He had an Aussie accent and my daughter said "who is this man" after performing live on TV and blowing my 19 year old daughter's mind with his charisma and voice. "That's Billy Thorpe" I said, the Aussie Prodigal's Son of Rock 'in 'Roll. A new generation of fans had discovered Billy. Pure legend - 2 careers in his own lifetime. Make a great great movie.

Good on Chris for giving you such contrasting tracks: Billy Thorpe when he was just starting out and Aussie rock was in its infancy - then less than a decade later, when he'd blossomed into a major rock act who really knew his stuff. You should see him singing "Mama" live - his voice is full throttle and his guitar is full bore! Sadly, Billy died of a heart attack at age 60 in 2007. Big loss for Oz rock.

Billy Thorpe is a bona fide legend of Aus music, and underwent several musical incarnations in his career. Beatles tour helped by luck that an Australian concert promoter was in the UK in early 1963 looking for acts and asked what have you got. Aztec Services' Kenn Brodziack was in the UK in early 1963 looking for acts to tour Australia. He was offered The Beatles and signed them.
