Doctors of Madness -- one of the few bands located in the middle of an unlikely Venn diagram of prog, glam, and punk.

AH - such memories... Redcar Coatham Bowl (silver flexi disc) / Middlesbrough Town Hall (yes, THAT gig) ... I became a DoM fan and being a bass player, a Stoner fan. Years later (c1983/4) I'm running a design studio in London and one of my artworkers, Elaine says 'Oh my husband plays bass, he was in a band you won't of heard of... ' yep it was Colin 'Stoner' Bentley. Colin became a great friend and subsequently he used to come to my gigs in various crappy South London pubs and gave me encouragement. We went to see Talking Heads 'Stop Making Sense' film together and compared notes about Tina Weymouth's bass playing ! He even made the lightbox (as he was one hell of a woodworker too) that sits right here in my studio still... He was such a lovely, gentle man and his death was so sad. My wife and I sat next to and chatted briefly to Richard at Colins funeral. Richard, you gave a great eulogy.

Ooh, what a gig in 1976!! Nobody here understands their music. This is what I love. Viva, Richard Strange!1976年のこのライブといったらどうでしょうか。そこに居合わせた誰にも理解されていません。これでこそ私の愛した音楽。ビバ、リチャード・ストレンジ!

This 'Billy Watch Out' clip was filmed by German television back in 1976. The German show was a special about Berlin nightlife and the Doctors of Madness were described as 'modern entertainment'. German critics described their album in the German version of 'Sounds' magazine as a crossover between Velvet Underground and Roxy Music and 39 canary birds. Thanks for watching, please share and spread the word of the Doctors of Madness.
