Sing 2 gets a lot of hate for being made by Illumination and not being super deep and emotional like typical Pixar movies and such, but I think it’s genuinely such a good movie and is really entertaining. The song choices and singing are fantastic, the animation is solid, the story has a simple, but nicely executed plot (still with its own emotional beats), and there’s obviously heart in how the illumination team put this movie together. I thoroughly enjoyed it

Honestly, I hate Illumination, but a good movie is a good movie. And Sing is good. Sing 2 on the other hand? Fantastic. I may hate Illumination, but credit where credit is due. They did a good job with Sing, and knocked it out of the park on the sequel. Definitely showed that, when Illumination actually tries their hardest instead of trying to churn out super cheap films, they can create great movies.

Portia absolutely destroys her song. It's so good. The song alone by itself is really good. But putting it with the character and her arc is just awesome. It's her moment to realize her own worth and just shove it in her father's face. It really is a solid movie.

I absolutely LOVED her performance, I still do to this day. The very first time I saw this movie, it was past midnight. I was laying in bed and watching, getting so hyped up by the minute. I was absolutely over the moon during the final performance, hitting the beat against the side of my bed during Johnny's song, it was crazy how into it I was. And then Porsha.. man, she turned everything upside down. It doesn't matter that she's a fictional character, I was PROUD of her, and she for sure solidified her place among my favorite characters.

You might notice Nooshy's voice actor after a while. And the reason you like her accent is that she is played by Letitia Wright. Shuri in Black Panther. So yeah, Nooshy is my favorite since she breaks the norms of the 'outside trainer' instead of trying to fit in. She is just made and written to do her own thing and that is better than trying to 'work in the norms'.

Recently I saw Sing 2 Netflix and now I listen to the soundtrack almost daily, especially at work. Still need to see Sing 1 since it’s not ‘free’ on any streaming services.

Some people have already mentioned it, but I'll add on. This movie features multiple tracks by Irish rock band U2, the lead singer of which voices the lion. The first one is "Where the Streets Have No Name", which is the one that the crew sings onstage that gets them the gig after Buster lies and says he knows the singer. The second one is "Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of", which is sung by the porcupine when she's trying to convince the lion to come and do the show. Random fact about this song: Bono wrote this after a friend of his died by suicide as kind of an angry letter to him. That guy was the lead singer of an Australian rock band called INXS. His name was Michael Hutchence. The third one is the one at the end - "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For".

Illumination is so strange, and yet so perfect. They have come up with literally the perfect sceme. They tend to make really really childish movies like minions or secret life of pets. These movies tend to not have much effort behind the but they guarantee money. I’m pretty sure they do this so they can make movies like the Mario movie or Sing. I adore this movie and was genuinely surprised with all the song choices. They knocked it out of the park with this one.
