Here’s a little tidbit about Hydrocity: You ever notice how the act 2 background is used for act 1 and vice versa? It’s because in Mania, you’re trying to exit hydrocity and go back into Angel Island in order to get the tornado back.

Seeing that thumbnail pop up in my recommendation tab has genuinely been the most surreal thing to happen to me in a while. Seeing some pixel art I did like two years ago appear in the thumbnail of a video a content creator I'm subscribed to posted, I really appreciate the fact you posted the link to it in the description. Thank you. Also never really thought of the explanation that Titanic Monarc Act 2 was inside the robot and each area represented a limb of the robot's body. I agree so much on Titanic Monarch Zone. And it's not just the brilliant thematic elements, music and aesthetics - it's also easily the best final stage in any Sonic game simply gameplay-wise. Introducing more difficulty in later stages without making it cheap or simply annoying is one of the oldest issues in 2D Sonic, see Metropolis from 2 and Death Egg from 3. Mania is where they finally hit the proverbial design nail on the head, and Titanic Monarch is the best example of it.

You know what the best part is? Its literally final fever from sonic CD. Originally the 2012 port was gonna have titanic monarch as the true final boss for final fever. So it taking place after metallic madness is so prefect. You can even hear collision chaos in titanic monarchs theme to represent that it takes place on little planet. I love metallic madness and titanic monarch.

I just noticed that the Titanic Monarch final boss is an implied refrence to Sonic CD's final boss. The electric wires are like the pistons that Robotnik has on the main body. Any every time you destroy that part, the boss gets easier. The only difference being that Mania's final boss (without Super Sonic) has actual difficulty.

The frame perfect movement trick is actually in Sonic 3&k. Imput the angel island code, pause, and you can press C over and over again to slow down by frames. It also allows you to slow the game down while still being playable. Great for newbies and the special stages.
