Id bet alot of riders dont actually understand how hard it really is, because its not just physically draining but mentally too. Almost need to experience that format of racing to realise the athletic ability of these guys, theyre literally the best in the world at such a demanding sport.

It’s more a connectivity issue. There is little to no cell service and satellite pick up is iffy in there. They could record and air later. Very little coverage on the event sadly.

Desert is easy. Tennesee is hot and humid. When you sweat, it doesn't evap. In the 120deg heat you have super low humidity you just need to hydrate. I've raced both, I'd take desert any day.
