This song bright back memories for me, I was locked up in a United States penitentiary in Atwater California and I would go to rec and there would always be a man by the name of Rod Smith who would play this song, I never caught the name of it, just remembered a few words, I looked it up and there it was, beautiful song, maybe he sang it as a reflection of what was his life as he won't ever get out of doing a life sentence, his hair was turning white and he has a long beard, I am going to try to figure out if he is still alive and stop him a few lines to tell him hello and that I still think about him and this song, where ever you are rod Smith, thinking about you

Go to sleep, you weary hobo Let the towns drift slowly by Can't you hear the steel rails hummin' That's the hobo's lullaby I know your clothes are torn and ragged And your hair is turning gray But lift your head and smile at trouble You'll find peace and rest someday Don't you worry 'bout tomorrow Let tomorrow come and go Tonight you're in a nice warm boxcar Safe from all that wind and snow Well, I know the police cause you trouble They cause trouble everywhere But when you die and go to Heaven You'll find no policemen there So go to sleep, you weary hobo Let the towns drift slowly by Can't you hear the steel rail hummin' That's a hobo's lullaby Can't you hear the steel rail hummin' That's a hobo's lullaby 💞

Just read about your album in Acoustic Guitar magazine....this is real good, and what a great concept! I will definitely order the CD, I'd been thinking of taking the Texas Eagle and this definitely moves me in that direction

Wow, Billy. This is one great cover of my favorite song associated with Woody Guthrie. Sure, Goebel Reeves wrote it but Woody would make it his own. I also like Arlo's cover as well. Keep fighting the Good Fight, my friends.

Just found out I have got the singers mixed up! I thought Billy Bragg was the main singer with his name first; it’s actually the other way around. Duh! Stupid me.

Flawless, not much, and don't intend to, as that's a bit boring. However, I only felt it's amusing, not annoying. Btw, what's your name exactly, dear pdxrailtransit ?
