Can honestly say after 14 years of listening to you boys, you have never released a shitty song or album! Love how every album progresses into new styles but still captures the "Billy Talent" sound. One of the best songs they've ever written. Plus, Ian's stealthily taking the mick of the guitarists now. This song sounds hard enough to play, and it is HARDER STILL to nail. That's what I like about Billy Talent. They evolve and change their style, but they still have that distinct Billy Talent sound. If any of their songs were on the radio you could be like "that's Billy Talent". Unlike too many other bands these days that started out rock/punk/alternative and have basically become pop bands. I get that bands want to evolve and try new things, but it's totally possible to do that while keeping that key sound that identifies them and that fans fell in love with in the first place. These guys are proof of that! Along with Green Day and Sum 41 also. I feel they've managed to maintain their sound and style for the most part while changing things up at times.

I love that they are stepping away from the more mainstream song structure
@grabbin_5 жыл бұрын
and that's exactly why I personally don't like it so much. You can't get the song stuck in your head. The simple but still powerful and expressive songs are also what made them succesful in the first place and for me it's sad to see them moving away from that more and more... other would call that 'evolving'. I call it 'changing'...
@DylanThompson025 жыл бұрын
C M yah I can see where you are coming from, and when I was a teenager I was definitely into that style of music but it’s kinda cool to have a band mature in their sound as you grow in your tastes. Personally I listen to stuff that a lot more prog now so it cool to hear them leaning in that direction and REALLY showing off their writing skills
@Mariooo575 жыл бұрын
Agreed and damn, about time. I loved mostly everything up until Dead Silence. Kingdom of Zod and especially Chasing The Sun, a welcome change of pace, were so promising but they followed them up with an album that was more of the same. I kind of grew tired of their formula and they had to change it up. This song is the best thing they've released in a long time and hopefully there will be more curveballs on the new release.
@Clayaga5 жыл бұрын
I don't really think they ever followed that, BT has had one of the most unique sounds i've listened to for years. They generally were always set apart.
@DylanThompson025 жыл бұрын
Clayaga they were always set apart mostly because of Ben and Ian’s unique vocals, but as far as structure they have generally stuck to the same formula. Not saying that’s a bad thing in any sense. Just that they were much more...radio friendly.

I don't know why, but in the final chorus of part one, where Ben says "it's tearing at my heart," it literally makes my heart feel like it's breaking a little in sadness. Maybe it's because that time he says it louder and with more emotion? I also think some of the notes are sharp (or flat? I don't have that great of an ear for music) that time around, and it just sounds different enough that it really strikes an emotional chord for me. I don't know. It's a strange emotion that I clearly felt the need to share. I love this song so freaking much, though. In my opinion, Billy Talent has never written a bad song. Now I really wish they'd release a new album. I need more of their music in my life.

What a great jam. Love the chorus line in Part I, "Searching for the end, but the journey's the reason for existence." Part II feels straight up like the end credits of Cowboy Bebop, esp when the horns come in! Love the tonal change.

Que temazo. Da gusto los grupos que se pueden tirar 3 años sin sacar nada de música pero que hacen buenas canciones cuando tardan tanto. Me da hype el álbum nuevo.
