New Balance 990 V5 was manufactured in the USA with 70% or more materials sourced from the US. But most NB models are made outside of the US. Do you think it's better if NB just made all their shoes locally (at a premium) or does it not matter to you?
@theconfessions2 жыл бұрын
The main reason why I brought it up was to address your questioning of the high price. The process definitely takes more effort than any generic nike or adidas shoe and the conditions of which their workers work (and their salaries) are overall much better. I'm not saying all NB shoes need to be made in the US. I'm merely giving you a reason why the 990 v5 costs what it costs.

Everybody says this shoes run large and go half size down but it is not true. A friend bought it for me. My current size is 27.5 cm for almost all my shoes. I had chance to try 43/27.5 cm in a store (They didnt have 42.5/27 cm). I thought it was wide and asked my friend to buy me 42.5/27 cm. It was a snug fit. My left foot was okey but right was more snug. After wearing 4-5 times, I decided I made a mistake cuz my right foot fingers crumble when I walk/run in these shoes. I will find a solution to make them wider. In conclusion, these shoes have relaxed fit, it is true to size according to cm length of your foot. These shoes are wide but doesnt run long. Take this into account when you buy. Dont buy without trying.

If I buy these shoes now in 2023 in good condition available on super discount. Do you think it will wear down after the few use being old now. Does the shoes have expiry even though its made with high quality materials? Please guide.

Bought a pair today for $120 to replace two of my beat shoes, a Nike Epic React 2 and an Air Max Flyknit 2014. An okay trade, it meets in the middle of both. Swapped the white laces for grey and looks 👌🏽

So I don't understand. You say that the suede is high quality, which I agree; the materials on the shoe are some of the highest quality materials a general release shoe like this could have, but you also say you don't understand why the price is so high. After accounting for the fact that the shoe is (mostly) made in the USA, not a sweatshop filled with children somewhere in China, I would say the price of the shoe is justified. Also, the New Balance 990s aren't really comparable to boost, which I'm sure is a foam technology you're comparing the comfort of the shoe to. Since the midsole is a bit more solid, it takes time to break in the shoe in order to experience the full comfort of the shoe. Obviously this is unlike boost, which is comfortable right off the bat, but the comfort only deteriorates as the boost bottoms out. Maybe it's a reach, but judging by the condition of the shoes, I highly doubt you gave these shoes enough wear to truly break it in and gave your opinions prematurely. I disagree with this review and I get that it's your opinion, but I don't think it's fair to label someone who buys a genuinely well-made, albeit expensive, shoe a person who wants to be a "New Balance culturalist". Edit: I want to add. These shoes require humans to actually stitch part of the uppers onto the shoe. Maybe you can take a look at this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqOZnWumapKfY9k

Thanks for your insightful comment. I agree with everything you said. I think price justification is always a slippery topic considering everyone values different aspects of things they buy. So to answer your question, just objectively at what the price point offers in various brands, it is definitely less feature for price. I've worn these for about a week so yes I don't think it's enough to have broken it in. However, this shoe does offer EVA foam in the front half of the sneaker. And a denser EVA foam in the back half mixed with the Encap stability puck. New balance culturalist or not, this shoe is definitely trendy, and it's refreshing to see this brand take stage as a fashion trend again. Also I'm well aware that sneakers still take human effort and labor to create. It's definitely something I value. I hope I'm able to address most of your concerns here

thanks for the video. I think I disagree with the statement that they are not worth 180$ because to my perception these shoes do everything right in terms of silhouette. They are flawless from every angle and that is what makes them a deserved classic. if you can't tell by now , these ones are my favorite :)

It only cost $185 in the us? ? Here in Taiwan it retails for about $270 usd and it almost always sold out. I’ll choose them over every single sneaker on the market for daily wear. The comfort and style makes them the longest lasting sneaker in my collection, they’re just a very subtle and versatile classic.
