This song was a surprise release on their album. You get to the last song, there was about 30 seconds of dead air then they announced this was a bonus song. Brings tears every time. A few years back I saw an interview with Rascal Flatts, that young lady in the video wasn't just and actress, she really was a cancer patient.

When my son was 4 his best friend was a little girl that lived next door to us. They were always together from morning to night. A tumor was found on her kidney. It was cancer. He went to chemo appts with her and when she lost most of her hair he got a buzz cut to match. My son has been a very amazing person all of his life.

I'm a Army Vet also. Six years ago on Good Friday, I go to the E.R. because I was bruising all over and didnt know why. The next day after being transferred to a second hospital three hours away, my Doctor told my husband and I that I had AML Leukemia... Chemo, spinal taps, bags after bags of blood, my hair fell out by the handfuls. Right after the first Chemo treatment, I start hemorrhaging terribly. Dr. told us there was nothing that could be done to stop the blood loss. My daughter and son flew 1200 miles to see me probably for the last time. They flew back home 2 days later. I get a video message from my son showing him getting all his hair shaved off for me. I was so humbled by his act of love. I finally stopped bleeding a week later and more than 50 pints of blood. I won this battle... three years ago I was found to be cancer free. This song means so much to my son and I. 💖💖💖💖💖💖

I'm glad your doing well. It takes a lot of strength and courage to just go through Chemo alone but to have your leg amputated as well is even braver. My family has a high rate of Breast Cancer and the aunts and cousins that got Breast Cancer made the choice before they went for chemo to remove both breasts to which the chemo was shorter as the cancer was not spreading. The saying in my family is 'That a woman is still a women with or without breast and that if your husband loves you with or without breasts.'

I work in healthcare, and for the most part I try to keep work and personal separate. But I had one patient, she was young, like 24 or something, but she had Leukemia and was always in and out of the hospital. So much so I happened to run into her again on a different day at a different part of the hospital when she wasn't even supposed to see me, I was in a room with a different patient and she happened to get checked in right then in the bed right next door. The thing that stood out to me about her is that when I had her as a patient, despite how sick she is and how miserable it must be to be in hospitals so often she didn't complained to me, she wasn't mean (some patients get really mean because they are sick and are sick of being in hospitals, can't blame them, I understand), she smiled when we spoke, etc... Basically she just seemed super sweet, so it kind of broke my heart to see her there. When I ran into her again, she saw me and gave me that winning beautiful smile and I knew it was her even though it was some time since that time that I saw her last. So with her it's kind of hard for me to just "leave her at work." I think about her often (no, not in a creepy way) and always wish that she can beat it and just enjoy her youth...

She passed away on February 8th a few years ago and we still miss her to this day , She was our family strength when we needed it and you could always talk to her about anything without judgement.

The beginning of this song was my experience to a t ...I remember sitting in the office when the dr ( my mom was the office manager ) but i remember sitting there and her saying ...dont research it online ( back in the early 2000's) and when she said I had polycythemia vera ( a rare version of leukemia...an mpn) I said...and what's that in English and she said ..."your bone marrow produces to much blood" I was 11 ...and we fought with drs who refused to treat me back then simply because I was "to young" ... I learned at a young age that life is soo precious ...u never know what tomorrow brings and I remember sitting in the waiting room at a pediatric oncology/hematology office...and I seen other kids who had lost there hair and they wud stare at me because I was blessed to be able to keep mine.....i donate my hair every 3 years to locks of love as my way of giving back because even though I make to much blood..I cant donate blood ....but my hair...I grow out and donate 18 inches every 3 years

My sister begged a dozen doctors across two states to help her because she was in excruciating pain for over a year. They finally took her seriously when her colon ruptured due a massive tumor. Stage four metastatic colon cancer. She was in so much pain because cancer was eating her alive, from her colon, to her liver, to her lungs- while she pleaded for help and doctors treated her like a drug seeker, despite having zero history of taking narcotics. She was fortunate to survive the internal explosion that nearly killed her, but she died less than five months later. My baby sister, a newlywed, my only sibling and best friend, lost the life that physicians refused to save at thirty-four years old.

The first time I heard this song was in a drive thru Starbucks on my way to work after swapping hospital duty with my then husband. Our 4 yr old was in her second week at hospital after being diagnosed with leukemia. I had gone home to hug my other three kids and get to work ( my MIL was staying with them ) .a..as soon as I heard " between the red cells and white, somethings not right" I began to cry, hard . By the time I reached the window , I was a mess and the poor little girl at the register asked me if I was okay .a..for the first time I said out loud " no...my baby has cancer" .a..I was a regular there, for the next two years they refused my money ( tGod bless the Euless, Tx Starbucks ) .a..my girl is about to turn 18...but the memory of her golden wavy hair coming out in my hands still shakes me...so grateful to God to still have her...

Mr.BillyYouSoCrazy, I have never been diagnosed with any form of all the cancers that stampedes through both my fathers side of his family AND my mothers side of her family, BUT I was diagnosed in 2015 by an eye doctor who specializes in Low Vision, that I was going blind in both eyes. You see, I had detached retina surgery not long after I started the 6th grade and was legally blind in that one eye since. Now I am losing my eye sight completely in both eyes. The Lord might never chose to heal me here on earth, BUT I know when HE calls me home to HIM, I WILL be healed in Heaven😊. It is not fun losing your eye sight, but I CHOOSE to trust HIM. wado, Ann Benson.

As a 5 time Cancer survivor this song gets me everytime. My worst fear was loosing my hair. My 2nd time was devastating. I had my funeral planned out, the singers told them what songs to sing, had my casket piked out and wrote my own obit, as not to burden my children with that task. I has 2 cancers at the same time. I was scared as hell. I had the fast growing kind, the 6 weeks from diagnoses to surgery seemed like a lifetime. It started out when I found it, the size of an olive, by the time 6 weeks later, it had grown to the size of a grapefruit. The one on my left kidney, the chemo took care of it. Thet removed mt left breast and it had matisized to my chest wall, they removed 27 lymph nodes from my left arm,I learned to shave my own head. Thank God they were all clean. Then 4 yrs later I had simple mastectomy on the right breast. Then 2 yrs later I had melanomia. This all started in 1999 with 5 cancerous spots in my uterus. I said God's not done with me yet. Now I'm going thru this with a childhood friend. Being by her side and telling her what I've went thru, first thing I told her was "I'm not here to scare you, but to prepare you". She has her surgery on her birthday this year. Beautiful song. Have you heard Alan Jackson's Susie's song?
