I just found out about halfandjai that's cool. Fun fact: Billy Ray Cyrus song achy breaky heart was a hit at this time & Travis tritt said he hates & made a big deal about it and Billy Ray won an award for it & at the end of his speech he said "to all the people who hate achy breaky heart, here's a quarter call someone who cares" lol to be fair Billy Ray was a one hit wonder until Hannah Montana yrs later which is funny

Heh. I recall ten cent payphones. The phrase, "Drop a dime", meaning to rat somebody out, is a reference from when payphones only cost a dime. Back when things were civilized; a pack of cigarettes and a gallon of gas were both WELL under a dollar. You could stop at the bar, on the way home from work, for 2 or 3 beers, and drive home without fear of jail or loss of license. Shoot, in those normal times, you could crack the first beer of your six-pack while driving home, without consequence. You could still smoke on a plane, in the doctors office, the hospital, the grocery store, and a taxi. Ahh... simple and civilized times... gone, never to return.

When country was ACTUALLY country. I miss 90s country. I lived in Mississippi when this was out. Miss those days. Travis tritt was the man
@truckertriesfarming97924 жыл бұрын
The best time for country started in the 60's, and ran through the 90's. Over the past couple of decades, though most of what's labeled "Country" is either a twangy form of Pop (Ugh...) or Southern Rock. The Southern Rock posing as Country, I like alright. The Twangy Pop, on the other hand... that's repulsive. I hate it.

I stick to the old school. I was born '96, in Texas, raised in Texas, still live in Texas. I miss Straight, Tritt, Jackson, McGraw, etc. The only new age cpuntry artist I thoroughly enjoy is Luke Combs.

This song came out when I was still in school and we started using it when anyone would start talking about things we didn’t care about or bad mouthing someone else. Sometimes we wouldn’t even have to say anything, just hand them a quarter and walk off. The look on their faces was priceless! Lol! Thank you for the memory! God bless you!

Travis got hit in the face with a 5.00 roll of quarters and it cut his lip .He does not sing it anymore. .But it did raise a lots of money for the local food banks or shelters or missions in the towns that he played. They would sweep them up put them in a box and give it to the a charity in every town.

Great song!!! I actually used this line back in 1993. I dated a gal for over 2 years, and then I find out from her dad, that on one of her "trips" out of town she got married and was pregnant. She tried her best to get back in my good grace's....and she showed up at my house. I came outside, walked her back to her car...and handed her a quarter. She knew what it meant since she knew I loved this song.
