It's not in most peoples top 5 Metallica songs. It should be, IMO. Therefore it'll always be underrated. They may be recommending it, but it's never one of the first 5 that people are recommending. Master Of Puppets, Battery, One, Unforgiven and a bunch of others are usually at the top of reaction request lists above Disposable Heroes from what I've seen.

The themes this album dealt with seem well beyond the years and experience of 4 longhaired guys in their mid-20's in the 1980's. Definitely the best Metallica album of all time. When Cliff died, I feel like the heart of the band did too. Somewhere there is a universe where Cliff lived and is still touring with Metallica to this very day. The band didn't sell out to get a bigger chunk of radio and TV time in 91. Load got written and burned in a dumpster. St. Anger and an album without a proper bassist wasn't ever dreamed of, let alone made. Can you imagine running that idea by Cliff? Can you imagine the true follow up to Master of Puppets and beyond? That sounds like a great place to be, I sometimes wish I was there instead of here dealing with what this country is becoming. What I, myself am becoming. Older and getting afraid the world may be finally passing me by. It's nice to see a new generation so genuinely excited about music that has been a big part of my life since I was a kid. Gives me hope, these are great videos to watch.

Congratulations, Billy mah man. YOU ARE NOW METAL. It will be a part of you forevermore. I love watching hip-hop fans discovering metal, it reminds me of when I (a lifelong metalhead) discovered hip-hop and rap. My 1st reaction to 2pac was "Oh SHIT, this dude knows what he's doing!!"

@6:17 Look at my boy Billy!!! So I've been headbanging to this stuff for 35 years, and I'm doing my thing I look up at my boy here and his head is bobbing at the same exact beat and rhythm and timing everything!! You have come of age you have passed the rite of passage, man, you are a headbanger metal head bro!!! How does it feel?? Oh yeah - your neck hurts! LOL I remember after one long ass show (Ozzfest '99 - 12 hour show) the next day my neck muscles were so sore i literally could not pick my head up, I stared at the floor all day sunday had to prop my chin on a pillow to see TV. I joke not. Course I couldn't talk or hear either - but totally worth it and that's when I discovered Godsmack too. Billy!!!! I love your enthusiam jumping in the chair - this was THE BEST reaction video I've seen on KZbin yet. Truly. It is so awesome seeing younger generation - especially cross culture really - enjoying this music that I grew up on for the first time. It makes me much nostalgic and floods me with emotions and good memories of my youth. I wondered with you being a vet how you would react to the message in the song. It's a poignant message of the soldier's role. Thank you again for your service. I'm telling you - i want to fly out to Buffalo (well or wherever - it's just an assumption based on your NFL logos you got) and take you to a metal concert like Metallica. That would be epic.

the Album was supposed to be called Disposable Heroes, it's why you see the Arlington style grave markers and an army helmet on one of them. They changed the name of the album at the last minute to Master of Puppets. "Life planned out before my birth, nothing could I say. Had no chance to see myself, molded day by day. Looking back I realize, nothing have I done. Left to die with only friend, alone I clench my gun"

I like to imagine you have a parent in the other room, then they walk in when the solo starts. They see you maxing it out jamming at the changeup part of the solo. All the while hearing nothing but silence. Thinking "Whatever that is, it must be the best thing in the world"😄😎😁
