Bimble: Northwich 3: The Long Way to Cuddington

Well for my first Bimble this was my neck of the woods. I knew Robert Westall as he taught at Sir John Deanes college. In fact I owe him a lot as he believed in me, having not many qualifications from school, to let me in and further my education. A real philanthropist and jolly decent bloke to know. Sad he died so young as did his son. You have inspired me to venture along to Cuddington via Whitegate on my bike as I haven’t done that. Cheers.

Hi Bimblism found you by accident . Cuddington & Whitegate way close to my heart from childhood in the 60/70's can't believe the change we used to call it the old railway track & used to train the horses on it .I now walk the weaver regularly . Look forward to the next vid . All the best for 2025.

Always used to have a Christmas ride into Delamere and onto the Sandstone trail from Whitegate Station, I'm not so fit these days so a Bimble is my limit

Walking through St Helens church last week I noticed someone talking to himself, now I know what it was about. It's one way of getting a new subscriber I suppose. The viaduct is indeed about 900m and here's some further useless stats about it. Starting at the Northwich side there's 15 spans from the park to the River Dane. 1 span over the Dane, 6 spans from the Dane to London Rd, 1 skewed arch over London Rd and then 13 spans from London Rd to the Weaver. Looking over your left shoulder you can see the 2 bridges and 1 skewed arch over the River Weaver and the Weaver Navigation, after that there's a further 12 spans to take you to Greenbank. Local legend has it that you can never count the same amount of spans twice! (OK I just made that last bit up) Happy New Year and I'll keep a look out for further bimbles.

Winsford is easy to get to via Runcorn station. It's just down the weaver. :)
