As a grouchy old phogey & vibes player, I usually turn off younger bands after mentally ticking off their influences and noting that the originals were better. This was different. The influences were there but not slavishly imitated, the compositions, ensemble playing and solos all had the voices of the players/ composer behind them, just as a I heard from those who spoke to me fifty plus years ago! I'm glad to hear that the tradition survives, not as a museum piece but as something alive with things to say. This greatly pleased me and it also pleases me to say that I will now buy and listen to this album. Thank you Mr. Ross and your musical accomplices: you made an old man happy!

Playing in the background, Godwin Louis' alto solo stopped me dead. Fabulous - his sound!

Absolutely beautiful. The Alto solo at around 40 min has me gobsmacked, insane.
