We all struggle against Lars. Lars players tend to downplay this character a lot knowing that he’s not a weak character. He’s pretty strong and this is one of the examples.

@@since2133 Not exactly. Lars is weak to side step, Marduk being a big body could not do that. Apart from that, moves that go into SE & DE can be snuffed out with a down jab or auto side step move. Joey clearly lacked practice against Lars. In the end it was bing's skill that won the tourney. Not everyone can pay at his level.

Joey not only struggled hard against lars, but comitted to only 1 character being marduk. He himself has so many characters in his pool that he would be atleast a bit more comfortable with against lars.. especially tournament wise. I don't get why he went all the way wit mardo

I disagree with what you're implying. Binchang is for sure the better player. He used like 4 characters and every time gave Joey's Marduk a run for its money. Marduk is really strong character and Lars is kinda shit. The skill it takes to win a tournament with Lars and learn all those characters on a pro level is something else. Also, its a very good strategy to mix up characters when your opponent won't. Joey had to keep switching up his playstyle or else he'd get wrecked by the differences in each character.

Hes been buffed to mid B to low A tier at this point. Solid pokes and really high combo damage but he has a weak counterhit game and bad to okay neutral game. It means you gotta play SUPER well with Lars to do well. Fundamentals and match up knowledge gotta be on point at high level play. For casuals lars can be real tricky for folks not used to him

@@dinobot678 Lars is still mid B tier. Joey was clearly struggling with the matchup which made Lars look better than he actually is. Lars lows are still very bad and his mids are mediocre at best. Lars strings are easy to counter as long as you pay attention. Lars movement is also below average which makes sidestepping with him hard. Lar’s strengths is his combo damage/carry, above average punishment and counter hit confirm 1,1,1 being so good. He still has really bad neutral game compared to the other characters.
