Vasantao or Vasant Khan as rightly described by "Pu La" due to his legendary role in "Katyaar Kaaljaat" was a phenomenon who had just arrived magically on the Marathi Stage ( Sangeet ) in the late 60's. No one new he was a " Mehfil Gayak" par excellence & his research on Natya Sangeet had earned him a Doctorate. In my school & college days i remember attending his various mehfils, one of them is memorable at Bramhan Sahayyak Sangh, Shivaji Park, Dadar, where he sang his iconic, " Sanware Ai jai yo" with Zakir on Tabla. It was pure divine. This " Bindiya" is a one of the many " Gems" that Vasantrao ji has performed. Cannot thank you enough for posting Sanjay ji ! 👌🙏

I am writing based on what I understood from this song. My interpretation might be wrong as it is very old classical song. The song says: She has lost her Bindiya and she complains that Machhariya has taken away her bindiya while she was taking a bath in a river or a lake. She asks someone to inform Chotte Devar to get a boat in the river to search for her lost Bindiya. Bindiya Le Gai Hamari Re Machhariya Machhariya has taken away my bindiya (Bindiya -> a small coloured mark that an Indian women puts on her forehead between the eyebrows which adds glow to her face) (Machhariya -> a fish in the river or a lake) Jaye kaho koi Please inform someone about this Chotte Devar ko Please inform Chotte Devar about this (Chotte -> Younger, Devar -> Husband’s brother) Ganga me nav dala vo re Please tell Chotte Devar to get a boat in the river Conclusion: She wants to explore a ride on a river boat. She makes a reason that Machhariya took away her bindiya and she wants to have a search for her lost bindiya in the river.
