I had it severe, but working on self love & the root of why I’m trying to harm myself and implementing boundaries has helped. I slow down and make sure when I’m eating I’m not doing anything else and set a timer for 2-4 hours depending on how much I ate so I know when it’s okay to eat again

I gained over 250lbs in a 7 year period. Fasting, metformin, focusing on nutrients (protein and veg at every meal with some fats to help with satiety), getting a job I like and being around more positive people. I binged because I didn't care if I died of a heart attack in my sleep. I realized that I needed to be more intentional about creating the life I want for myself

same but this has been happening almost every day for over a year and it is controlling and ruining my life, i lost all my friends from becoming so depressed and insecure, lost all my confidence, my energy and motivation. this is so hard, i can’t see it ever ending

@@kaceyrose7357 Hey I know your comment is a bit old, but I still wanted to reply and say I know being in the middle of sever illness can be insanely isolating. - I urge you to not wait to fix your diet/anxiety/etc., and go start dipping your toes in finding social opportunities this week. Start online (D&D was great online for me), pick a hobby, text and old friend just checking on if they're well, pick a single task that you would feel proud of completing (more small ones is better than one big one), if you can take a before and after picture so you can look at the proof you did something well if you feel bad later on. -- Having a problem sucks, but you still deserve to have fun and connections while figuring out how to get your health where you would prefer it to be :)

@@kaceyrose7357 mine been happening for about 5 years now, I'm only 14. It's so horrible, and now I've developed other things like sometimes restricting food, purging, over exercising, and calorie counting, all while binging between 5 and like 9 times a week.

​@mystical_cake we don't know all the details to even consider that this not BED for them. When I first began my binge eating I was eating two portions of food daily and for my height and recommended weight this was A LOT of food for me. I gained 50 pounds and was obese just on this and eating snacks constantly throughout the day. To invalidate this person with only knowing a single detail is just wrong.

Dr marks, would you consider making a video about how eating disorders evolve, and how they interact with addiction? I tried to get over this and alcoholism by getting into weight loss. Quickly got obsessed with calories, fell into the pro ana vortex, and rather than learning how to not eat or drink (as though that's better than eating or drinking too much) I just developed bulimic behaviours. I couldn't get a grip of the bingeing& felt so out of control, I just became terrified of being fat as well. Luckily lamotrigine really killed my urges and cravings for carbs tho, & I can manage those thoughts and behavioural impulses now. Thank you psychiatry LOL

I was anorexic in the past, and now i'm binging for the past 4 years. I gained a lot of weight and now i'm overweight. I never realized that this was binging even tho i'm studying psychology... what a shame. I think i'm denying that i have a problem, i can't even talk about this to my therapist 😕

Same. I was never diagnosed as anorexic but I definitely had some tendencies during a difficult period in my life. And then, it was just too much and I went from one extreme to the other. I struggled with binging for three years until I finally was able to lose some of the weight but now I've regained it again and I feel worse than ever. I hope you're doing better btw ❤

I also have it but I talked and it helped but still I am having relapses. I need help and zi a.still would need to talk to my therapist again.....iy is really Har and when zi measured my sugar levels, they were extremely high meaning I am pre diabetic but still having difficulty in controlling my trigger

I been having a binge eating disorder for years and lately its been getting better. This is what helped me. Stop restricting, in my case I binge on the foods I am not allowing myself to eat. Instead of restricting, focus on adding vegetables, healthy proteins and whole grain products to the foods you already enjoy. The dietician Abby Sharp has many videos of great examples on how to turn your meal or snack into a satisfying combination of foods. Don't skip meals! I made it a habit to eat 3 times a day and add snacks if you feel hungry in between. Find ways to reduce stress. I binge the most when I am not okay. It's the only way I know to reduce stress and distract myself when nothing else works. Reducing stress of course is not easy and a topic in itself, but it starts with noticing what makes you feel stressed. I believe most of us with a binge eating disorder are on auto pilot most of the time. And lastly, talking with someone you trust about this can really help! I know most of us don't really have someone like that, or we think we don't. Things we are ashamed of only grow bigger in isolation and it really helps to notice how we are met with empathy and not our own harsh judgment. I know this is tough and you don't see a way out. I believe in you and you are worthy of love and kindness just the way you are ❤️

Tbh Gym def saved my life I was going on a path where it was severe combined with a mild case of bulimia, but I started going to the gym and eating better. It only happens about 1-3 a week now and my weight has went from 230 fat - 175 Semi Muscular Semi Chubby in some areas like my sides. But I think the best part is I don’t feel as guilty because everyday I work on myself and it is getting better it’s just hard to kick something like this. Good luck to everyone struggling

Ugh I do this. I go to the nearby store and/or grocery store maybe 4 to 5 times at most a week. It feels embarassing because I see the same salespeople.

I had this a lot threw Covid cause I was rlly social then I just cut off from everyone and started binging and now that I’m recovering I’m just now seeing it as a disorder and not just feeling down so I grab a snack I rlly hate how it made me feel so idk why I even continued doing it…

I solved this emotional eating problem by intermittent fasting. I don't eat until noon. And that is my only main meal. If I even try to eat 3 small means a day, I will binge.

Definitely a moderate to severe binge eater. Once went to a doctor and because I’m thinner, he accused me of bulemia- I was so offended and didn’t really feel heard I never tried to fix the issue again.

I love how people and shows are trying to express BED (aka binge eating disorder) I feel like a may or may not have BED so seeing others is very important to me. Everyone always talks about ED but not very much BED. I love seeing this but it is so sad.

I binge every night around midnight, once I'm alone and can zone out with Netflix, with a plate piled high with multiple chocolate bars, donuts, cookies and cakes. I feel so sick afterwards. And I feel disgusted. I want to LOSE weight, not put it on! If I didn't have a fear of vomiting, I'f do that to "undo" it. I'm otherwise never hungry. I have no appetite ever, due to anxiety and anhedonia, and I eat nothing during the day. I eat dinner as it's expected. I'm still not hungry when I binge, but I crave the sugar.

Something i have to do for my BED is to eat regularly. Its proven that when you eat regularly during the day (even when not hungry!) you drop your chances of bingeing at night. Something to try? Sorry if this was condescending, I just relate a lot outside the not being hungry during the day.

It has nothing to do with what diet you're eating or how frequently you're eating if you eat whole foods and you feel full a binge eater will just look for easily digestible foods like sweets, chocolate etc that they can still binge on even on a full stomach. It's about getting the dopamine from eating a lot not about satiety.

Since I was young, my family wasn’t doing that well financially while I believe they put food on the table for us everyday, I felt like I had to eat a lot to compensate for whatever. And at the age of 12 I was around 187 pounds, I’m now almost in college and still struggling lol. But what different is that I now restrict, binge, and purge.

I'm afraid I have an eating disorder because I just cannot finish a simple meal without feeling sick, I can only eat like half a burger and I'm full. Yet, I still feel the need to eat everything in the fridge or snack all day everyday. I don't have a problem with my body I don't think at least, I do workout and I am in shape. I just feel like there is something wrong with me. I'm to afraid to tell my mom that I think I have an eating disorder because I don't know if she's just gonna brush it off, or look at me like I don't know what I'm talking about.

The clips of people eating are too sane tho. I would use my hands and shovel it in my mouth, id be barely breathing or chewing. Its a desperate panicked eating..

i KNOW, for a fact, that i have a moderate to severe binge eating disorder, but my metabolism is genuinely so fast that i generally don't put on weight. even though this sounds fantastic, nutritionally and mentally my body is being wrecked, but i'm not getting heavier so i'm not being treated seriously. it's frustrating, because i know my body, and i know i need help getting started making changes, but peoples general opinion is that as long as i still look slim there's no problem eating as much as i want. my appearance should not be an immediate reason to not investigate further.

My junior year of high school is when my eating disorder started. It started from just skipping breakfast and lunches. I only brought snacks, and would rarely eat at home. After I graduated, I went from 135lbs to 108lbs, and stayed until about a month ago. Ever since I got a new job at a restaurant as a server, I've gained almost 15 pounds back 🤩🤩 I never wanted to lose weight, I just did not have an appetite to eat. I'm so grateful I can step on the scale and be HAPPY that the number is getting higher and higher each shift.

As a child before I knew ED even existed past anorexia, I had binge ED from the ages of 5-8, at this period a lot of stuff happened in my life and I wasn’t getting any mental support, I had it severe and I hated myself for it despite being a young child

Every single day for the last 10 years. I'm 14 years old and I've been overweight my entire life. I hit 200 lbs when I was 12 and I decided it was time to lose weight. I lost 35lbs in around a year and a half. It wouldn't have taken me so long if I wasn't binging every day and then exercising to make up for it. I have no idea how to eat like a normal person. I either starve myself, overexercise, or binge. Sometimes I throw it up. I don't know how to stop eating when I'm full. I don't know when I should be eating. I don't know how much I should be eating when I'm hungry. Everytime I eat a meal I get the urge to binge and I rummage through my kitchen just grabbing whatever I can find. I feel so isolated and alone. I have no one in my life I can talk to about this and I haven't seen a doctor in 5 years. My mother is in the military and works all day and my stepfather is an alcoholic who is never home. I do online school so I have no friends and I never leave the house. I sit alone in my room all day and I cry while holding my cat every day. What do I do with the life that has been given to me??

😞i binged on a lays small one and two cocoa bars i feel so sad I hadn’t eaten chips in like 3 ms but yeah i ate one i feel bad bad badddd as hell but it’s ok I’m gonna control more I promise me to do my best i know im depressed and i have ed and I don’t have binge ed It happens once a month or once in a couple of weeks so I’m just gonna forgive me and start again today like nothing happened 💗

2 weeks ago I’ll never forget i had 3 slices of papa johns pepperoni banana pepper, Italian sausage and mushroom pizza and wanted to throw myself off a bridge I was so upset w myself now I have a 1/4cup of roasted nuts and 8oz strawberry milk a day or 3 tangerines and 8oz strawberry milk.

i think i also just have a horrible relationship with food, i’ll eat like a pig all day till i feel like i’m going to explode all while still having thoughts of “i should not eat anything tomorrow to make up for it” and planning how i’m going to starve myself or “be better” it’s really an endless cycle, it’s taking over my life but i think i have a plan

Yesterday I ordered from Door dash 3x! I double dash a stack of cookie butter pancakes , and a large triple cheeseburger meal from McDonald's. Later on that day I ordered a corndog, a double cheeseburger, 2 soft pretzels, a large colada slushie and medium cookies and cream Sonic blast from Sonic. I ate everything except the blast. I think I have a problem...

i'm not diagnosed cuz my parents don't really know whats going on but like i have symptoms and at this point i've stopped eating bc the more i eat the more i WANT/"need" to eat bc if i won't eat i won't get hungry and ik it's really bad and it's almost like one ED turning into another but idk how else to get rid of it

I fell like i am eating even though im not hungry, and get quite full afterwards, but I dont ear massive amount of food, like maybe 2-3bags of potato chips or a average sized meal even though i’ve just finished eating 1-2hrs ago. I pretty sure it’s not binge eating disorder, but im getting close to it 😢

In weight watchers we call this volume eating instead of bingeing. Some people eat a lot of food at all three meals, tons of calories but it’s not bingeing

Even when you aren't talking about long-term downsides, this HAS to be uncomfortable and come with unpleasant stomach issues they are not enjoying. I know there are lots of reasons for this to happen... But I wonder if this is sometimes the brain driving someone up the wall trying to get a niche deficiency fulfilled.

what happens if it's only once a week, and you have the rest of these symptoms? is it still binge eating?

I wonder if you have been diagnosed with this disorder once n your life but you haven’t done any of these things for a couple of months or even a year are you still considered a binge eater, but one in recovery?

Is it an episode if you eat a lot daily????? I'll literally eat and eat until there isn't a scrap of food left. If I get boxes of snacks i'll eat it all that same day, or most of it and the rest immediately the next day. If I don't have food I constantly have the compulsive action of constantly looking in the fridge or cupboards hoping something is there, but also glad there isn't. I don't know if I count but I do nothing but eat and think about eating. I want to lose weight but then I just seem to eat even more. I just feel like I need to, like even if i'm not hungry I can never skip a meal. If I do miss a meal somehow i'll eat even more. Even if I eat till I get sick if I have any left on my plate i'll eat it, having leftovers is rarely an option for me because I just wanna eat it all, even if i'm upchucking and the food tries coming back up. I have a fear of vomiting, but it's like I don't care if I do when I want to eat. Or if i've been nauseous the moment it goes away my first instinct is to eat, only realizing when someone literally has to tell me "weren't you just nauseous?" I don't know what to do. I feel like I can't have food around me at all or i'll eat as much of it as possible. I want to just stop.

He was controlling..finaly I got it through my head to stop. 😢now I'm eating healthy..not sure if caught myself in time..i watch myself with it all..need much support.

I have had this since i was a kid. I have had times where i dont eat at all and i have been able to stick to a diet for 6 months now im 26 and i do it constantly i habe bo clue how to stop it and i hate it

Im close to my brothers weight with me weighing 248.2 pounds. The only difference being him age 27 and me age 17. 😮‍💨

I have anorexia binge purge subtype, I have 2-4 binges at week while compensating by overexercising and using laxatives. I am underweight so what's the difference with binge eating ?

I gained 60 kg and lost a lot of muscle when I lost the control of this. I have been on my current weight for years and I can't do basic daily things anymore without almost crying of pain. Idk what the root is, sexual abuse is my guess, but there is also other reasons. I can't talk about sexual abuse to doctor because I feel so ashamed, I didn't tell anyone and I feel I'm not as good as I was before it, I just let it happen for years.
