Easy one for me, Weekly. This is because after a watching everything at once, you lose the anticipation of the journey you are about to embark on.

Thanks to Ken, Joseph and Jennifer! 📺 I like both binge-watching as well as week-by-week. It depends on the particular series.

Weekly! One main reason is to have plenty of YT content to watch over a longer period of time. Love y'alls discussions and all the reaction videos. Also, I enjoy having something to look forward to every week. Makes working two jobs just a tiny bit less awful. This is especially true for shows like House of the Dragon. I don't want it to be over too quickly.

My metric is simple - I want sitcom length shows bingeable, and dramatic shows weekly.

As someone with a four year old who loves Trolls and is constantly asking for specific songs, I feel Jennifer's pain😂 For myself even when a show is dropped at once, I usually watch it in smaller bits because of life. My wife and I will watch an episode every day while eating...maybe a couple episodes on the weekend when we have more time. I think this speaks to the fact that there are other models of content consumption besides binging and weekly. As far as discussion goes, I think that really good shows will be discussed long after they are finished. People still want to talk about shows like Frasier that ended 20 years ago.

If it was just a purely selfish decision, I would prefer binge. But, I do think the weekly model is better for the series by keeping it in the collective consciousness for longer and helping a series to have longevity.

Weekly is good but they have to actually write for it. Otherwise it becomes an incredibly frustrating experience.

This is very easy for me. I definitely prefer weekly releases for a few reasons. 1) weekly keeps a show in the cultural discussion each week rather than everyone talking about it for one week an moving on to the next thing. 2) with how long my commute to and from work takes, by the time I get home I have time for at most 1 movie, 2 episodes of a TV show, or 1 tv show and a little time in a video game before I fall asleep. With the binge model I would have to take a vacation day in order to watch the whole show in one day and avoid spoilers online while still having time for household chores on one of my weekend days. When my commute was 15-20 minutes I had time for double the content as I do with my 60+ minute commute.

I’m an oldie too so my heart says weekly. But I do think binge has its place. But for what I love watching and digesting, like Star Wars or genre, it’s weekly for sure.

Weekly for me and it’s not close. But……..I love binging some shows as a wind down with my wife. And as you said, some shows release weekly but don’t quite know that there is a structure that suits that format. Ultimately though, I love to sit with things for a week and build anticipation for the next instalment.

I prefer weekly.... but when shows aren't meant for "hype" and it doesn't serve the story then do a full drop. Like the acolyte would probably have been received better if it was a full drop. The pacing is off with this show. I'm enjoying it but something is lost in the edit right now.

Excellent discussion and I'd agree that weekly works better for the conversations around the show. My work schedule doesn't allow me to watch a specific day or time every week though so I miss out on those weekly conversations. Personally, I just wait until all the episodes are out and then watch what I can, when I can and then I have a backlog of things to watch and YT videos/podcasts to listen to in chunks. For myself, since I'm not able to stay current enough to engage with the "water-cooler" I'd prefer to be able to watch as much as possible all at once. There have even been some shows where I knew the number of seasons was limited so I'd just wait until the entire series was out before engaging with it, but I'm old and very much in favor of delayed gratification.

My wife and I were supposed to meet another couple for lunch a few years ago. The husband showed up and the wife bailed. The wife had stayed up till 4am sewing curtains. She couldn't admit stranger things had dropped the previous day and she stayed up late binging the whole 3rd or 4th season. I lean towards weekly. I digest a series better with weekly.

In my current life, I have 2-3 hours where I can watch tv in the evening, so I'm not mad at the weekly model. The only downside of the binge for me is the need to avoid spoilers if I can't get to the whole thing quickly enough, which is a lot less of an issue now that most shows are putting out 10 or fewer episodes per season.

I think the binge model is better for story while the weekly model better for marketing and socially. But I also think we need more customised released schedules for each show. Why not release more monthly trilogies like Fear Street, or a double episode every two weeks? There are endless possibilities and trying to force every single idea into the same release format is bound to hurt the execution of some of them. The Acolyte has been one of these weekly release shows that would be benefited by being released all at once, it feels like how watching Russian Doll week to week would have felt: extremely weird and underwhelming (even though the show is awesome)

I have found when a show drops as a binge now it takes me MONTHS to get around to it because it just feels daunting. I don't wanna wipe out my weekend watching a show

I like both ways. I prefer watching weekly for the initial session pass because I want to participate in weekly fan discussion channels and theorize what will happen on the next episode. Then during re-watches, I prefer binge-watching the whole thing in one sitting. However, for a season of different standalone episodes (like "Tales of the Empire" or "Jedi"), I would rather have them come out weekly since they are completely separate, non-connected episodes. Final Verdict: Weekly

Definitely weekly. The speculation is half the fun, and there's not always enough time to binge.

I much weekly on all shows. I have admitted though something about this show seems to lend itself to a binge drop. Not really sure why though. Just a niggle I have. Still really enjoying the show though 😊

Release weekly, binge as needed later. I binge rewatches, and binge 2nd or 3rd tier shows (based on my interests and time). Though very rarely do I sit and watch a whole season. Binge for me means a couple episodes a night for a few days, typically try to spread that out though, for the art

In a world where more and more seasons of TV are like one season long story, a la Stranger Things, I enjoy being able to watch all at once. I tend to look at and engage with newer TV as akin to reading a book. Sometimes the flow of a season works better when I can go from one episode immediately into the next. Which brings me to... I'm cool with weekly as well. I think of it as reading a book slower. One chapter per week. Plus, the fan engagement and relevance in the larger cultural zeitgeist lasts longer and maybe that's better for getting potential future seasons green lighted. ...not sure if I answered the question, but.

It depends on the show for me. Sometimes I just want to watch through a show without waiting. But for shows where I want to engage with fandom like Star Wars, weekly is better as it lasts longer.

I think it depends on the show. Some shows are made to be binged while others are made for week to week viewing. I prefer week to week myself but I also don’t mind a good binge!

Disney is NEVER going to drop a whole series at one because there are SO MANY ANGRY NERDS that would cancel the subscription after binging a show. THis model keeps people subscribed. Period.

Joseph thows me off. If I had to guess his age just off these videos, I would have been like 33? 34? 36 max? Then he makes similar references or same references as Ken (who, mind you, is not old! Just older) and I'm like, wait a minute, no one pre-early 40s are likely to know that. So, the only logical conclusion is that he is the mysterious Sith Lord under our noses who's discovered unnatural ways to prolong his life through the Dark Side of the Force!! Also, let Mae go, Sith Lord!

Hi, I am Saul, first time long time.... I feel like the artist(show runner) behind the show should have the ultimate say. As I know for a fact shows are being now being written with how they will be consumed(binge or week to week) in mind. Watching a show that was deliberately paced for binging, week to week can kinda be frustrating and can be a detriment to the overall experience. I truly feel like the Acolyte was written(maybe not intentionally) for a binge viewing. The water cooler aspect is fun. I seek it out even. But it is integral to the viewing experience?
