Set in the steel yards of Pittsburgh, the film is iconic with characters, music & dance that stand the test of time. Beals and Nouri crush it with a chemistry that's palpable and the dancing is ART. Great supporting cast as well. Lots to LOVE here.

@@lunchablecheese5931 The two leads in FLASHDANCE were pretty much "unknowns" by Hollywood standards but I liked them together. The character of Alex was "18" for the sake of the ballet audition, but her lifestyle as a welder and nightclub dancer felt older (at least 21 yrs.) Am I in favor of a large gap in age? No, but there's some that make it work, i.e. Hilarie Burton & Jeffrey Dean Morgan (16 yrs.) Jerry & Jessica Seinfeld (17 yrs.) Steve Martin & Anne Stringfield (22 yrs.) Annette Bening & Warren Beatty (21 yrs.) Actually, there's surprisingly quite a few. (It wouldn't be for me, but to each their own.)

What is considered a kid's movie these days? I was at a friend's house yesterday and he had whatever was streaming off of tubi, and it was 1986 I believe the movie definitely wasn't made for kids. The wife of Jim Carrey super hot chick. I'm going to check out and try to Google her name and what movie it was. Lauren Holly, just found out how much of a Playboy Jim Carrey was,. Band of the hand what's the movie, and I will say it was pretty graphic but if you're super bored and want some nostalgia, great movie to watch. Even Lawrence Fishburne. I'm pretty sure every Smart TV has tubi on it. I know I definitely got off track on this comment but, age means nothing especially when your past 18 but absolutely get along with your partner.

A problem of this iconic movie , which inspired me too at that time, although I was very different from Alex, a piano student - is that the actress who plays the main character is no dancer at all and the engagement of her stunt double hits a lot, too much. The bodies are very different. Better was the performance of the other character, the girl who dances the song "Manhunt".

The moral of the story seems to be about a rich older fella who has the power to advance the career of a flighty teenage girl who knows when shes got lucky!! Sleeping with him is part of the deal it seems! The likelihood of her being a highly skilled welder at 18 yrs is truly absurd! In any event, the films version of a modern day Mark Anthony demonstrates that power and influence allows plenty of older men to enjoy the body of a teenaged girl who in turn wants him to procure for her all the things she cant get ordinarily! The pitbull dog shouldn't have wasted its time salivating over him in my honest opinion!

Yeah in life there are people with connections, who are able to advance someone who is not as established, perhaps someone they're physically involved with, who happens to be a lot younger. However, what started out with lust in regard to Nick and Alex ended up being a genuine relationship. For sure, Nick made a phone call, getting her the audition. Lucky? Sure. She still had to deliver though. She still worked very hard at her dancing, putting in a lot of hours.
@electroborg7 ай бұрын
Are you a leftie? I ask because you plied the truth to a narrative. The rich older fella is a self made man, she refused to date him at first. And, no moral here, pure hollywood way to build the character and to develop a plot. Finally you should take into account the age of this movie. The movie industry was about entertainment and a bit of implicit propaganda, not exclusively propaganda like it is now. These visuals and music are memorable.
