I hope you feel better soon. I had depression once, the worst thing was the anhedonia: I couldn't feel happy or anything about anything, it was like I was emotionally numb. But it does pass, I promise, even though it feels eternal at the time.

I’ve been there too. Well it’s been a lifelong experience for me. I attempted suicide twice before I turned eight. I’m 61 now and I’m very grateful to modern antidepressants (Prozac so not that modern) My existence was quite often almost unbearably painful but I’m very glad I was never successful in my attempts to self delete. People say that in life only death and taxes are unavoidable, but I’m still not dead, hardly ever been well enough to pay taxes. The only thing that is really universal is change. Things WILL change. They might not get better but they’ll change. I promise.

@@SkepticalTeacher Yes, very true. Unfortunately when in that state the idea of a permanent solution can be appealing. So instead I say that things will change. And I dislike lying so I don’t pretend that that means that things will definitely improve. I certainly hope that things will improve, of course. Young people tend to realise that I’m not sugarcoating their pain. They tell me, well at least a couple of times they have, that they prefer me to be honest.

The first time I saw this episode really helped me. I used to have such bad sleep and stress about it. I still wake up every 2 hours or so, but now from 4 to 5 to 5:30am, I do admin and don't stress about the 8 hours and fell much better

I am so grateful I got that knowledge/advice when I was 19 and it continues to be one of the most helpful things i suggest to others - I tell people to talk to there doctor of course but that there may be nothing "wrong" aside from our society revolving around an unnatural routine lol So glad they mention it here and that it helped you! Yoga nidra either in bed at night or for a quick power nap in the afternoon is also amazing when I need to conform to a schedule that conflicts with my own circadian rhythm lol 💜

Except the guy uses animals popular to draw in Egypt. We know what megaloceros (Irish Elk) looked like because our ancestors drew pictures of them on cave walls that show details we'd never know just looking at the bones, like a fatty hump and color patterns on fur! Egyptians drew so many hippos, cats, and other animals in great detail!

You know, each of these episodes has a title, and it's much easier for most people to remember "I've seen the episode about blah" than "I've seen episode #X in no particular order."

I've only been binging this channel for a few days, but I think it's the only episode here without the subject in the title, and it's probably because of the word "sex".
@ConstantChaos1
@ConstantChaos1 3 ай бұрын
That would make the title too long and the series and episode need to be in the title for organizational purposes Also like no i definitely think more easily in alpha numerics than titles, but I know that different ppl process differently so I wouldn't imply everyone had to prefer that way, if there were a way to make the platform work without that info in the title I'm sure they would.

Americans still use instant tea. We mostly use it for iced tea. Another thing that the British don’t do. But, in fairness, America gets much hotter than Britain.
@asincerewoman
@asincerewoman Ай бұрын
We should learn from our UK friends and use proper tea to make iced tea. Even the cheapest tea from Tesco (the more economical chain in my town) is better than mid-range American tea. I found this out when studying in Scotland. Now that I live back in the US, I buy British black tea (Yorkshire Gold is my fav) to make iced tea at home. So much more flavor! Using expensive tea for American iced tea is a waste though. By the time one adds sugar and any other flavors (e.g. lemon, peach, raspberry), the subtle flavors of really good tea will be lost. I tried to go back to brewed Lipton tea bags for iced tea because they are half the price of British tea brands but it just tastes like brown water to me now. Instant tea is not even tea though. It's like saying Tang is orange juice. Brewed iced tea, no matter which kind of tea, will always be better than iced tea made from instant tea. Sometimes you just want what is familiar and comforting though, so I understand why instant tea exists. I occasionally want a Snapple or Arizona iced tea, so I am glad it all exists! My point here is just to encourage Americans to give better tea a try when making iced tea. Only took me three paragraphs to make it! 😂

I called my first guitar Harald, out of a whim I've long forgotten.. In my mothers birth country, Sweden, mankind, or rather "the human being" is, feminine . Människan, hon. The human being, she. Swedish is my second language, english my third. And Sweddish is still getting more interesting as time goes by. I pisck up on all sorts of really old suffixes, that are not present in Danish or Norwegian. Swedish have some really interesting suffixes! In Danish we have he, she and it. Male, female and nothing! Actually! We call it "intetkøn" ehich means "no gender". Same as in German and English. He, she and it. Very usefuld when familiar, not so much if not so familiar.

first time ive ever noticed this on a QI episode, but the laughter and general merriment seems to be disproportionately strong, given what was actual being discussed. almost like they were forcing unmerited laughter to make the comments seem more clever than they actual were.

(American) English can have the same word but it means different things to men and women. For example, if you were to ask "what's wrong" and a man says "nothing" he means "nothing;" if a woman says "nothing" that means "a whole hell of a lot and if you don't know already I'm not going to tell you and also punish you for not knowing even though I haven't told you."

As a woman i don't slways find all female comedians funny. It can seem less a funny joke and more i want you to focus on me. Not all female comedians. My favourite comedian is Sarah M. Im dyslexic so i cant spell the sirname. The name of what her forfaters did for a living. when they came from other countries and thought sounded like a good surname. Women here. Saying my evry though. And i need to stop Please be more funny. Don't think you have to talk every second to be included. Let them do more of the filling stuff. And come up with better. Or stop with the dulb because that thakes from the good. There are male comedians like that. Unless they know enough and i care enough they should not talk about it. Sorry that sounds. Don't know the word to describe me. But you can say about two jokes of something im not into i will laugh. Hair. football. hurling. Tictoc. Only messing but i punch this guy(no that is never funny) but lets say i robbed the guys drink he tryed to punch me and he fell over. A small laugh i will give you. Small. But more of the same no. Tangent comedians should be less like me .
