Bingo Night Live Forced Off-Air Following Clock Change

Following the clock change from BST back to GMT, something seems to go wrong at Bingo Night Live, forcing them to take a break while the problems are rectified. ITV1 replaced BNL with Creature Comforts.

I love the way they show Creature Comforts at that late in the night! I remember a few month ago BNL was unable to air due to a power failure, so the wise people at ITV showed two episodes of Creature Comforts.

I think what happened was because all the games take place at a certain time so due to the clock change (where time goes back to gmt) the system that runs the game thought it was time for a game that already finished so it broke and they had to make the server's time go back to bst and start the orange game.

Continuity in England is so much more nicer and polite than here in America. "I'm pleased to say that we can return." Here we'd get some old staff TV guy that would just keep saying PLEASE STAND BY. Look for them here on KZbin. However, if someone said we were coming back, and then "OH WAIT WE CAN'T", well that would suck!

I was watching that late night roulette thing on Challenge (And also on Virgin 1 and Bravo) last weekend (March 27) and tthe presenter was only booked until 2am and when the clocks went forward at 1am. The presenter started complaining that we has now 7 minutes overdue!

@Bartman814 the reason is that the computer would have said a game finished at say 1:30am. When the clocks went back from 2am to 1am this would have caused an error as a game would have registered as 'finished' at 1:30 am when the time was only 1:00 am. It would have take a while for these errors to clear. Only thing to do would have been to wait until the time went past the last 'game finished' time on the system.

ITV must have been paying someone to push a button for those almost robotic pre recorded announcements (they sounded far too neat to be spontaneous). Why not just employ overnight live continuity?

The ONLY technical problem slide I had experienced here in America is when an NBC NASCAR broadcast was suddenly interrupted for a few seconds. It was after a commercial break I think. Here’s a technical problem announcement collection if Wheel of Fortune suddenly had technical issues. This show was run on a bot system, and was on in the middle of the night during clock change day. So what happened, the bot that run the bingo game got confused over the clock change and they had to restart it to fix it
