Going full bio is highly recommended to maintain it for 6month to a year and see how it does without a animal inside. I like a my non bio setup with individual potted plants, they easy to remove and replace with another if needed.

Hi I have a question, can you use a cleanup crew (isopods,springtails) in a artificial plant terrarium for tree frogs? Any tips if so, thank you
@RealPangeaReptile10 күн бұрын
You can, but you will want to make sure you provide plenty of leaf litter, and fresh veggies for them to eat, as there won't be any fresh litter from the plants to provide extra nutrients.

@ Ok. That was in the plans. Thank you and Thanks for responding

The rise of bioactive has cause some people to start to really look down on people who still do some enclosures all artificial. They have developed a superiority complex. But they dont understand that all artificial has certain applications and certain animals just dont do well in a bioactive setup for one reason or another.

True. As much as we love bioactive setups, artificial/sterile enclosures still have their place!

Can i put isopods in a nobe bioactive tank?
@RealPangeaReptileАй бұрын
You can put isopods in a non-bioactive tank but you will need to provide plenty of leaf litter and food for them to hide under and eat.

Yup semi bio. Plan on that route myself

I feel like im going information overload!!! I have a leopard gecko who is less than 5months old... Its currently on a repticarpet and i am working on a soil/sand/excavator substrate. I want the best enriched environment for my little leopard gecko.

Do you have any specific questions we can help answer?
@Zaku1862 ай бұрын
I do both. All artificial for quarantine setups and animals that need more care or are to destructive and fully plants bioactive for certain animals that do well in that kind of environment. Sometimes i hybridize the two for animals that need a heat lamp ill do fake plants under the lamp and real everywhere else.

Ive seen some youtube where they would immediately introduce their leopard geckos to the bio environment.
@RealPangeaReptile17 күн бұрын
That's fine for more experienced keepers, though with newer keepers we'd recommend a more controlled environment to start so they are easier to monitor.

I do both

Both are great! It all comes down to what you need the specific enclosure for, right?

It's hard to say no to natural plants and a cleanup crew!
@SNWfooty6 ай бұрын
i do both - so substrate, leca, isopods and real wood- but also fake plants

Nice! A good hybrid build is great too!

I'm thinking of doing the same. My house is very humid already and I don't wanna have the tanks humidity too high. I feel one with live plants would be hard to keep it from staying too high a lot
