it's my dream to be a biochemist and there's like no content on what it's like aside from literature by old bald men. this is so refreshing to see!!

Hellooo thank you so much!! Yes it’s definitely worth it - personally I love coming up with ideas and planning out experiments, as it feels extremely rewarding when you then carry out the whole process. Future opportunities wise there’s a wide range - (assuming after degree) ie studying further and going into academia, research (masters/PhD/post doc etc), working in pharmaceutical companies, clinical research… many more options so don’t be worried/ restrict yourself !! Some also decide to go into other fields ie finance/ banking after their studies!! Hope this helps and do ask more questions if you want to talk about it. Also let me know if there’s any content you’d like for me to post ❤️❤️🙏🏻

What are the jobs we can get by doing a phd in biochemistry?

Hellooo so going into the PhD route often leads to working in academia/ research - ie postdoc, on their journey to become a lecturer, professor etc. During the PhD journey there’s many collaboration opportunities between university research groups and you’ll get to network with more people in the field. Work opportunities (given by ie your supervisor/ from their connections which they kindly pass onto you) such as producing proteins for a client etc could also come up and you’ll get to connect - and if fortunate you could work with them after finishing your PhD!!💪🏻 There are many options after completing a PhD - some may not even stay in the field!! However since the area of study for the specific chosen PhD is relatively narrow you’ll be one of the few who knows A LOT about the area - definitely will be able to find a position. Alsooo there are PhDs sponsored by ie companies so there’s your connection - perhaps you could continue to work with them…they chose to sponsor you for a reason and high chance to take you on afterwards !!

@@Elle.802 would you recommend biochemistry? Who should pursue a career in biochemistry?

@@partoonsuzumaki3367 if you like subjects biology, chemistry, maths (would help with data)!! Personally I find myself to like things structured, organised, concise - ie I prefer presenting things in bullet point format rather than writing long paragraphs, having a planned out weekly schedule etc - I found these traits extremely helpful with working in research/science (just purely based on my own experience !!!)
