If i did try it i would see if it could be buried. Like he said the septic is in essence a bio digester too. But i would want to have the diaphragm obviously, and there will be a way to have meters seen from above ground or in house.

Nice - in that 3D clip in the middle it shows all three pipes (in/gas/liquid) going to the bottom, is that correct ? I thought the gas pipe had to go higher (or have a collector underneath it) and the liquid was supposed to go half way down?

the liquid by-product could be fed to soil via a watering system much like they do in the JDAM system of Korean natural farming.......

I'm interested to know if the liquid fertilizer is safe to use on vegetable gardens if human waste is added to the digester. Does the anaerobic activity kill pathogens?

Yes, from my understanding once the gas comes out of the fermenting tank it is just like if it came out of a compost pile and all the pathogens have been killed by the different bacteria

@@stevenporter9114 I've been growing food from human waste for some time now, mostly from composting toilet systems. I would recommend storing the waste as a normal compost with worms etc, or using on fallow land The key here is that it effectively an aged batch before it has contact with edible plant matter. Another solution is to bury it below where plants grow, ensuring no contact with edible plant material. My person system was a batch system with a 4 year cycle, and even there i used the above precautions so it was never on the top layer. Tis better to be safer than to test the limits, spread sickness, and then have the authorities come in and make all recycling impossible.

I enjoy listening to TH. He’s an inspiration. This video touches on some basics for small scale systems. There are many useful guides for the application of digester effluent. I could write a lot here as I’ve been a process engineer for 15 years on all types of digesters all over the world. Biodigesters do not destroy all pathogens; if operating at 98F or 37C, one could expect 90% reduction of fecal coliform. If human waste is digested, then a maturation or hygienization phase is needed if put on crops such as root vegetables. The effluent should be incorporated into the soil two weeks prior to planting if applying directly. At least sixty days before harvest on leafy crops.

Does this only work in warm climates? In cold climates it may cost more to heat than it's worth.

You don't need to heat the digester, in really cold climates keep off the ground and place fiberglass insulation around it.
