Does one have to pay to be there or can one join, if accepted, and simply exchange skills. For example, I am an artist and writer. What are the criteria for membership?

I see you have fruit trees. If you guys really want to sequester water (and greater amounts of carbon from the atmosphere) in your soils you should seriously consider planting a diverse cover mix beneath your fruit trees and get some animals in there such as sheep to graze this plant mixture. Watch the documentary The Biggest Little Farm (2018) for some insights. Take the cover from say 12” down to 3” and move them on. Move them everyday to a new section to prevent overgrazing (portable solar electric fence works well for making sections). Be sure to provide adequate rest period for a grazed area (e.g. 60 days, if possible; climate and plant dependant perhaps) before returning to a section. Even if you guys are not meat eaters, sheep and other animals can still be used to great effect for this purpose, and grazing animals love a rotational system because it brings up growth 3X typical stock grazing open field methods...so when they are moved they get used to expecting a wonderful new diverse and plentiful meal. Stock grazing turns the area into a snooker table surface and destroys plants. And a lack of ruminants also causes problems because it robs of ecosystem of much needed biology...any gardener will tout the benefits of manure etc. There’s just no substitute for grass and plant eating herds of herbivores. You won’t do this effectively with fruit trees alone. Other things they did in that doc was brought in (you could make them) owl boxes and put them high up in trees etc and they took care of the gophers that were eating the roots of the fruit trees. And ducks took care of the slugs that would thrive under the cover crops. A curse becoming a blessing. Best of luck. One more thing/tip... methane can be an issue for grazing animals but if you manage your animals in a sensible manner and build up your soil organic matter the methanotrophs will take care of the so-called methane problem. The issue isn’t the cow or other herbivore, it’s the farmer and his lack of understanding of soil life and predator prey behaviour and why animals formed herds and how this behaviour built our soils in the first place. Animals, plants, soils, oceans and atmosphere all co-evolved. Animals in feed lots has nothing to do with this dynamic. It makes perfect sense why such terrible cooped up treatment of animals might have negative consequences.

There seems to be a lack of diversity. I’ve lived in a community that lacked diversity and it was a horrible experience. Work on your diversity.

@@ledpinkdefsabbathwhokinksd9733 who said they have to be black?? That’s racist. And diversity is something a community should work on for inclusivity and enrichment of the whole community. It starts with outreach and the intent of adding diversity.

How are you guys standing up to the Portuguese government protocols supporting forced vaccination? I was interested in Portugal until I saw that the Portuguese government is one of a handful of governments that have signed on to the WHO plan for vaccine passport enforcement. No way will I set foot in Portugal now. Really a shame! All the good places are being strangleholded.
