Tai-Ahoms were not from China, they were from Moung-Mao-Lung. It was an independent state for several hundred years, but later it was included into China. The Ahoms were a part of the big Tai race which is spreaded in North, East nd South east Asia. We r the descendants of the great Mongoloid race. Also no one is indigenous to any place. Every tribe spreaded from the Greater part of Africa. The Ahoms defeated the Mughals 17 times. The eastern part of India remained independent due to the Ahoms.

Did the Shan Prince or Tai Prince Chaolung Chukapha come to Assam from the Shan Kingdom of Myanmar or from Yunnan Province of China? Chukapha's mother's original home was Mao Lung or Mongmao in Yunnan Province, China, now known as Ruili. However, Chukapha's father's original home is mong ri mong ram now known as Mong Mit in the Shan State of Myanmar. History tells us that Chukapha was born in the house of his mother, his uncle, and grew up in Mao Lung or Mongmao. Chukapha's uncle had no sons. After Chukapha became prince of Mong Mao for 19 years, his uncle had two sons. His uncle's two sons were Chu-Khan- Fa/Pha and Sem-Lung-Fa/Pha. Chu ka Fa/pha's mother ( Nang Blak Kham Sen) had three son's - Chu-Jut-Fa/pha , Chu- Kam-Fa/pha and Chu-Ka- Fa/Pha. Chukapha's father chao chang nyeu ( alias Phu-Chang-Khang) got mong mao to expand the kingdom. The kingdom was ruled by Chukapha's uncle (Pa-Meo-Pung) .There, Chukapha's father wanted to fight and expand his kingdom, but he ( Pa-Meo-Pung) was not prepared for war and made a treaty with his sister Nang Black Kham Chen, proposing marriage to Chao Chang Nyeu ( alias Phu-Chang-Khang) . Chu-ka-pha/Fa had to leave the kingdom of Maomao. After death Pa-Meo-Pung two sons, Sue Khan Pha/Fa and Sam Lung Pha/Fa seized Chukapha's father's kingdom and killed his elder brother Chu Jut Pha/Fa in battle. There, in Mongmit, Chukapha was appointed as a subordinate king. At that time, uncle's son Chukhanpha sought Chukapha's help in expanding a country. However, his uncle's son, King Chu-khan-pha/Fa of Maomao, became angry and went to war, and Chu-ka-pha/Fa left the war with his uncle's son and dreamed of building an independent country. Chukapha crossed the Pangsau Pass with about 9,000 troops and entered Mong Dong Song kham, now Tipam ( Assam) with the intention of establishing his own independent country. After a difficult journey, Chu-ka-pha/Fa had to stay in places for a while and engage in warfare.

Present day ahoms are not pure Tai. Ahoms got mixed right from the days of siu ka pha when he married in Assam. Majority of ahoms today are mixture of different indigenous communities of old Assam mostly Moran, sutia, Naga, kachari, koch, mising, baro bhuyans e.t.c in fact a tribe called borahi got totally assimilate in the ahom community that it got 100 percent extinct. Today there is no borahi tribe at all. Read the chakari feti buranji you will know the origin of many ahoms of that time. The ahom royal families may have pure Tai blood till now. It's a true fact

As a Bodo speaking Bodo as my mother tongue from Kokrajhar, Bodoland Territorial Region, Assam. As being a Khilonjiya Oxomiya (Indigenous Assamese) and also Bodos being regarded as the earliest settlers of assam as it is taught in the universities of assam in history, anthropology and sociology. I believe that I have the privilege to type this comment. This is not a hatred comment for my ethnic-assamese brothers and sisters of assam who speak assamese as their first language. Ahoms spoke Tai-ahom and Tai-ahom was their court language not assamese. Assamese originated from old Prakrit but eventually became sanskritised language and lingua franca of Assam only after brahminisation by brahmins from Orissa or mainland India during the late periods of the Ahom dynasty or even as late as early 19th century. Learned assamese people generally knows about this. Anyway, just for the facts. How Bodos are the first settlers of Assam ?! Generally, Bodos as a people from mongoloid race are supposedly considered to have settled in assam atleast 7000 years ago from being nomadic people north of the himalayas from mongolia, china and tibet into agrarian based tribe into plains and valleys of Assam. Bodos or Boro-Kacharis, a plain tribe and the Dimasas or Dimasa-Kacharis, a hill tribe of assam speaking linguistically similar Sino-tibetan languages Bodo and Dimasa, respectively doesn't like glorifying much about the Ahoms because they are regarded as invaders in both the history of the Bodos and the Dimasas having been people related to the kachari kingdom. Also Kacharis are also mentioned as Kiratas in ancient Hindu texts. Ahoms are generally taken as invaders who came from Yunan, China and later ruled assam by both the Bodos and the Dimasas. The Kacharis already had an established dynasty in Assam with capital Dimapur, presently in Nagaland before the Ahoms came in Assam. Dimapur is derived from Bodo and Dimasa meaning City above the large water/river and even believe to derived mythologicaly to be derived from the Asura Hidimba and his sister Asuri Hidimbi whom Bhima married in the Mahabharata. Ahoms and Kacharis had many clashes. The Kacharis defeated the Ahoms couple of times initially. The ahoms had to offer princesses to the Kachari Kings after the defeat. . However, Ahoms later defeated the Kacharis and sacked Dimapur. The Kachari ruins in dimapur are very much evident even today. After the destruction of Dimapur, the Dimasas had to flee to the hills in middle of Assam. However, they established Dimasa kingdom and dynasty again with capital Maibang and Khaspur in the southern plains of Assam in Barak valley near Silchar. The Bodos on the other hand who claim to be from the earliest ruling clan 'Bodosa' of the kacharis believe to have fled to the northern plains of the Brahmaputra(Burllungbuthur in Bodo) in western assam near the foothills of Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh and again became a distinctively agrarian based plain tribe differently from the Dimasas. Just like the ahom has Buranjis for their records. The Bodos had deodhai script for the records but it is undeciphered now and sometimes the Ahoms are blamed for the cause. Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha collected many samples of Deodhai script from Kachari ruin monoliths in dimapur. Everyone knows about Lachit Borphukon in Assam. His statue is built in the Brahmaputra in Guwahati. Only few know about Jwhwlao Dwimalu (Bodo) and Veer Demalik Kemprai (Dimasa), the same chief warrior or army general whose statues are built in Kokrajhar, Bodoland Territorial Region and Haflong, Dima Hasao, respectively. He defeated many neighbouring burmese kingdom armies and brought white elephants as souvenirs. His legacy however sadly ends with tragedy of curses to the tribes or the whole kachari community. His life story is the same in Bodo history and Dimasa history thus believed to be the same person but his historical timeline is little bit controversial among Bodos and Dimasas. Jwhwlao Dwimalu was from 8th century as mentioned in the statue in kokrajhar according to the bodos and Veer Demalik Kemprai from early 13th century (1200s) according to the Dimasas. Now here's the scenario, even if latter Veer Demalik Kemprai's lifetime timeline is taken into consideration. It's same time Sukaphaa, the first king of the ahoms came to Assam and established Ahom kingdom in Assam.
