The great Calcutta killings of 1946 had deeply effected the minds of bengali hindus that they don't want to stay with the muslims.... so they agreed for the partition of bengal.... even historians like ramesh chandra majumdar , sir jadunath sarkar support partition of bengal....at least in West bengal hindus will lived with peace and security....so Mr. Mukherjee supported the partition of bengal but in doing so he save the hindus of West bengal but he was helpless to save the hindus of East bengal.... the hindus of East bengal suffered greatly..... the league had plan to make whole of bengal into pakistan but thanks to S P mukherjee and other bengali hindu intellectual to make West bengal a part of India....
