श्यामा प्रसाद मुखर्जी एक शिक्षाविद, प्रखर वक्ता, कुशल संगठनकर्ता और बहुआयामी व्यक्तित्व के धनी थे। वे न केवल एक अनुभवी राजनीतिज्ञ थे बल्कि प्रखर राष्ट्रवादी और देशभक्त भी थे।स्वतंत्रता के बाद देश को एक राष्ट्र के तौर आगे ले जाने और जन जन तक आजादी की अहमियत को पहुंचाने के लिए तमाम दलों ने साथ मिलकर काम किया। उन्होंने न केवल एक राष्ट्र की बात की बल्कि कश्मीर के विशेषाधिकार से जुड़े अनुच्छेद 370 को हटाने के लिए आंदोलन भी चलाए।
