Probably doesn't have any components that get particularly warm. I don't know what he's using, exactly, but I don't think it involves any particularly mobile hardware so any internal malfunction isn't going to hurt. (People who get implants like these have them coated with inert materials, as well, so its not going to electrocute him anytime soon.) Biggest issue is if it takes any physical damage, but if that happens, he's probably in trouble, anyways.

I don't think the interviewer asked the hard questions such as what are the long term health effects on this? How is the biocompatibility in the long term? What happens if the implant is faulty or technologically obsolete? Also in my opinion self medication without proper training and education and experience is a recipe for disaster; you can know what you put in but you don't know what you should know and the risks. Just because you know how and what it is doesn't mean it's safe.

You clearly haven't researched this. These boards are coated in a biocompatible coating specially made to not cause rejection. As a matter of fact, it is observable on the raspberry pi he shows in the video. However, that particular one was not implanted because of air bubbles under the coating. I suspect Mr. Laufer may have considered the fact that he cannot ever have a medical diagnostic procedure involving a Magnetic Resonance Image. My guess is two things may occur. First - it might get pulled right out of his leg. Second - data stored on the Pegleg device could possibly be corrupted by the magnetic field of a MRI.
