I'm a bioinformatics department student of the faculty of computer science in "AinShams" Egypt , Probably yo recognize me from my two previous comments and I really like the "nutrime" idea of personalized nutrition plans . What I thought about is combining big data analysis , image processing techniques & classification machine learning in an application I would like to call it "RoboDoc" . Basically it's a powerful tool that can be used by radiologists to diagnose tons of cases in much much less time , where the model can identify the issue or the disease leaving radiologists to tackle more advanced problems or details & accelerating their performance .

Bioinformatics is one of the most exciting fields where we can apply AI. It's the reason why I think AI is an amazing tool despite its potential dangers. There is so much to discover. So much potential to have good, large scale impact. Best wishes with your course. I'm looking forward to seeing more videos about it. I'll probably sign up for it myself. 😊

Thank you Bianca! And I agree, health + AI is still really early days. Plenty of work to be done in this space! I plan on being in it for the long term too! I’ll be sure to share what I learn :)

How cool is that? I've been a software developer for 20+ years now and last semester I just earned my Nutrition bachelor. Love life science and software engineering. Looking forward to combine those two passions. Cheers. ps: I did about half of the edX Introdution to Genomic Data Science.

Very interesting, good video! What could also be interesting is the fact that genetics give a variance most of the times. For example your genetics might determine if you are between 1,75m and 1,82m tall but how tall you really get depends on multiple other factors. There are studies in modern medicine that show that siblings separated by birth, can have very different heights depending on the social status and wealth they grow up in (which also changes the diet). Also a lot of the times one can see that pro basketball players are crucially taller than there parents and siblings in some cases -> habbit, visualisation, nutrition, activeness,... The body effects it's own DNA, we just don't know how. If we would know how and also could use that fact with bioinformatics from an engineering stand point, this would be HUGE! Greetings from germany!

Wow. That’s fascinating. And you’re right we’re still only scratching the surface of DNA + the environment. Nature versus nurture. Awesome share. Shoutout from Brisbane!

Yes, same parents have an older brother 5 foot 7, I'm 5 foot 10 and my little brother is projected to be 6ft. And in terms of stress symptoms and diet. My oldest brother was the most stressed out and ate the least. My younger brother is optimistic and energetic all the time and eats more than the both of us.

I literally was just looking at the course a couple days ago and was gonna ask you about it, thank you for the content! Also my grandmother had Alzheimer’s disease and I would like to see how machine learning could further research in that area. I don’t know how but it’s something I would like to look into...still a college student though lol

Hey R M, I found a company already working on it (ZOE): joinzoe.com/ I applied to work there but was declined. No matter, I've decided to pursue it in my own way. No major actions except a lot of trial and error (experimenting with my own nutrition).
