So i got admission in Mtech Computational Biology in IIIT Delhi through GAT B exam. And to be honest, the exam is relatively easy and a preparation of 6 months is more than enough to be among top 50. There is no need for letter of recommendation because the selection in IIIT Delhi is purely merit based followed by an interview.

Since I'm into Bioinformatics, I'm a bit bias to say Bioinformatics particularly for me the application of machine learning to discover new drugs is an exciting and fascinating endeavor. In spite of this, Data science can really be applied to both.

For example, I can create a csv file for drugs that target aromatase and drugs that target estrogen receptors. How can i create a csv file for compounds that target BOTH aromatase and estrogen receptors.

Hello! Thank you for this video, very helpful and insightful! I wanted to ask, what kind of interview questions do bioinformaticians get asked for job interviews? What can we do to practice for these?
@DataProfessor4 жыл бұрын
Hi Lali, thanks for the question. Are you coming from a biology or computer background? The typical questions that I would ask during an interview for bioinformaticians would be general questions shown below (usually the applicant comes from a biology background, though occasionally some would have prior programming experience): - Do you have any research experience before? - Can you talk about the research project that you had taken part in? - How can your experience contribute to our research group's work in bioinformatics? - What project would you like to work on if hired?

There's a lot of possibilities, depending on the hypothesis you have a wide range of bioinformatics and also cheminformatics tools that you can harness. One possibility is to make a web app (a bioinformatics tool) that others can make predictions with. An example tool we developed is at codes.bio/osfp and an accompanying paper is at jcheminf.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s13321-016-0185-8
