Good to hear the product worked. Let’s watch the bees using the equipment later on.

Those bulk bee splits are on freshly treated equipment to help avoid infestation pressures on the nest. The colonies are doing well so it seems. Two of the bulk bee splits were shown at the end of this video compilation

I personaly do not use the product (i am more into building bees then into honey production, so I rarely end the season with spare combs) but I know a lot of beekeepers in my area use it routinely with very good results.

It’s not cheap , but it absolutely snuffed out that lingering wax moth presence in the shed. It was weird. It also seems to not fazed the bees al all on the comb
@jameslissaman8331 Жыл бұрын
Don't mean to be a doubting Thomas but have you seen multiple successful generations of bees hatching and successful hives following treatment with Certan, very interesting, also were your frames a mix of wax foundation and plastic foundation and if so was there any difference in effect on the wax moth?

Not just any bacillus thurungiensis. It must be a subspecies such as kurstaki or azawaii. These are host specific bacteria that only kill caterpillars. Other forms of bacillus thurengiensis subspecies will kill beetles, honeybees, mosquitos, etc. Extremely important to use the correct subspecies of B.T.

You can make at home and save some money. I use it for biological treatment against white butterfly on cabbage for years and for waxMT last few years. I buy 1kg powder and there are instructions how to dilute it, it is much more affordable that way, like 20 or 30 grams on 15 liters, so much cheaper, since 1000 grams cost like 100 to 110 USD. Greetings from Hercegovina

Konas are great for commercial. Low swarm tendency. I made up 4 frames of brood splits on August 25 with Konas. They are now a box of bees with 4 frames of brood. Check me right or wrong in the spring if you want, but late summer splits, 4 frames of brood in the fall will be 4 frames of bees in the spring, that's a kona carniolian. They have small winter clusters.

How much wheat do you guys grow? Way back in maybe 1965(?) or so my dad ( we lived in Massachusetts) thought it would be fun to drive to The Pas and take the train to Churchill. Of course my mother considered divorce... Along the way we sampled fishing spots and my sister and I fought Pike to our hearts content. Highlight were the wheat trains at Churchill. Ships anchored off shore. And one flying the flag of the USSR. Canada was a big exporter to the Soviet bloc I guess. Had a tour of the grain elevators and it was incredible.

How did you apply the certan? With a gatden sprayer? Squirt bottle? How heavy a dose did you put on each frame? (Like a few mists? Dripping off?) Thanks as always!

I have an odd question to the community, not really related to this video... Do your frames ever get pollen bound? If so, what do you do with them? I have been scraping them off and then just setting the mess out for open foraging, but it feels like I am just making stronger (and more) yellowjackets and wasps!
