Salty water has a high concentration of NaCl solutes (Na+ & Cl- ions) comparing with our cells, that has low concentration Water from our cells will follow the low concentration of water in the salty water, which will cause our cells to dehydrate, shrink and dye.

So when you said that water moves to side A because it has a higher solute concentration, I am confused on why Side B increases in solute? Does the sugar in side A decrease as some of the particles move to side B when the water is being transported to Side A orr?
