I agree with Lex. If we can get molecular biologists to look at their work like a programmer who is debugging, they can cure cancer. That's why billg is so interested.

if healthcare goes free market we will have cures but pharma is using the government to stop alternative treatments and such from happening and coming in like stem cells that's why you have to go to this world countries for certain stem cell treatments

The word often comes up in an AI context (i.e. back propagation), so I'd assume that's where the connection is made. 😅

I just imagine an old school C developer listening to Lex say Javascript (presumably Node) is taking over the backend programming. LOL

The answer is always found in the last place you look. Once you have it, you stop looking. Maybe life started similarly. It found a not perfect answer and ran with it. Java ran life forms.

With enough computational power it may be possible to simulate other possible replacements of dna.

Don't assume that what seems a mess and an accident to your small mind isn't actually a phenomenon several orders of magnitude beyond your mediocre understanding.

JavaScript wasn't the firs languaget in the browser, before that it was VBScript, before that it was Java applets. Also, JavaScript today is nothing like JavaScript back in the early 2000s you could say it's a totally new programming language, re-invented countless times. Is it better today? I don't know... all I know is I liked VBScript much much better, but it was Microsoft and they messed it up otherwise front-end would be running on VBScript today.

I enjoy javascript very much ( I know Python, C, Lisp, Assembler too). But the argument of Lex was, that there first was a crappy language and now it is getting better and better, because so many people put effort in it. The results are for example V8 and ES6.
